Meticulously crafted at the TAMA factory in Japan, this STAR Reserve hand hammered brass snare drum offers crisp, high-quality sound that machine-hammered metal drum shells simply can't replicate. Skilled metalworkers form each drum with a small hammer at the edges and a larger one at the center, resulting in a barrel-like shape that accentuates the exquisitely balanced and resonant tones of brass. And because of the light 1.5 mm shell thickness and full 5.5" depth, every hit on this snare is free to resonate with natural brass sound regardless of volume. To match the shell in look and sound, TAMA completed this snare drum with customized 2.3 mm brass Mighty Hoops, specially shaved down at the edges for bright, sharp attack.
