Tama SLP G-WALNUT 6.5X14 SD

Tama SLP G-Walnut Snare 14 x 6.5 in.

Description
However, the innovations don't stop at the tone and appearance. TAMA's work on identifying the ideal snare sound led them to develop the new hardware like the "Sound Arc" Hoops which add sustain, wider tuning range and a fuller frequency response. Hearty brass tube lugs will ensure a long lifespan for your tension rods, as well as your tune. And finally, the 30-strand Snappy snare wires deliver super articulate snare response and enhance the unique tonal and dynamic properties of this walnut shell.

Have played Tama drums since 1985, currently playing in a 5 piece 80s/90s cover band, playing rock, country, reggae and pop genres. Drum is versatile, and well built. Great warm tone, holds tuning fairly well after heavy use, cracks with body and depth. Swapped out the batter head with Genera HD Dry and I love it! The finish though not flashy, presents a nice furniture grade matte walnut finish. The hardware is top shelf and never fails to impress, have had the drum for about 4 years. Recently played a club with high ceilings and brick walls and floor, this snare drum without a mic projected even ghost notes and cross stick cut through guitars and bar noise. If you come across this drum new or used BUY IT!
Great sound and price point.

Between my SLP G-Bubinga, Starclassic W/B Snare and this SLP G-Walnut, this snare is my favorite hands down. It already comes with a fantastic combination of heads that you can get great usage out of. In my personal opinion though my favorite combo is an Evans Genera Batter with a 5 mill reso head.
Best Snare Ever!!!

I found this snare at Guitar Center. I bought it not knowing what it would sound like. Took it on the road, put a new Remo Coated Ambassador on it. Tuned it, and immediately fell in love. This snare far surpassed my expectations. To this day it's my #1 snare. I must say if you're looking for a snare drum that sounds killer, and priced low, this is the snare for you. Check it out.
Love this snare
