TAMA Iron Works Studio Low-Profile Telescoping Boom Stand Black

Description
Instead of using common hollow metal tubing, Iron WorksStudio tripod legs are solid cast iron. This smart, bottom-heavy design provides steadfast positioning in a smaller footprint. Tama’s extra-thick rubber foot covers completely isolate the stand from floor vibrations.
The tilter is one of the most crucial pivot points of any boom stand. Tama’s unique multi-steel-plate Vice Grip compression approach cinches and secures this critical axis with remarkable strength and assuredness. Tama solves the age-old problem of metallic buzzing/rattling by embedding a plastic insert inside the T-handle stem.
The die-cast locking thumb nut’s larger, sure-grip design allows greater leverage for faster, easier set-up and breakdown. And Iron Works’ sturdy zinc, die-cast adjustment collar will be appreciated by drummers burned by the performance failure of flimsy plastic collars.
A cleverly designed Latch-Lok Sleeve Insert inside the main height adjustment mechanism prevents the collar from wearing out over time—so you’ll never have to worry about endless collar turning that fails to ever tighten its grip.
A uniquely shaped tripod base and cavity cradles the boom when folded for storage—a simple detail that helps pack gear tightly. With its solid-core telescoping iron boom arm and counterweight, Iron Works boom stands safely and securely hold heavy microphones and accessories.

Impressive stand, especially for the cost. It is very heavy, stable and the clutch design holds a very heavy mic with no droop. A big upgrade over the typical, cheaper rubber washer clutches. Only questionable item is the cable clips.... they are a bit flimsy and don't really fit the parts of the stand you would typically clip the cable to. The plastic is a bit more flexible and perhaps less prone to breakage, but can be difficult to get to stay closes. Only thing keeping this otherwise excellent stand from being a 5/5.
