A Closer Look at IRON COBRA -Hoop Clamp

Description
The Tama Iron Cobra 200 Series is a high-performance pedal developed using the same design principles as Tama's flagship Iron Cobra 900 series, offering remarkable performance at an affordable price. The HP200P features Tama's Spring Tight technology, which provides an incredibly smooth and fast response as the Cobra Coil spring smoothly returns the footboard to its original position after each kick. In addition, Tama's single-chain Power Glide cam increases power and speed, allowing you to achieve your ideal beater angle for optimal attack on every kick.
Spring Tight Technology Enhances Response
The HP200P features Tama's innovative Spring Tight spring tension rod, which solves the problem of sluggish, heavy pedal action by using a special steel string to quickly return the footboard to the original position without twisting. This provides a smooth, responsive feel underfoot.
Power Glide Cam Increases Power and Speed
Tama's Power Glide cam is equipped on their best-selling Iron Cobra pedals, including the HP200P. Its single-chain, offset cam design increases power and speed as the beater reaches the end of each stroke, allowing for aggressive, powerful kick drum sounds.
Durable Design Built to Last
With a single chain for industrial-strength durability and Para-Clamp hoop clamp for a quick, solid grip on your bass drum hoop, the HP200P is built to handle the demands of regular gigging and practice. Its affordable price makes it perfect for drummers on a budget looking to upgrade their setup with a high-performance kick drum pedal.
A Pedal for Every Player
Whether you're a beginner developing your skills or a professional drummer who wants Tama quality at a lower cost, the HP200P delivers. Its adjustable cam and beater angle provide the flexibility to customize your pedal for optimal speed, power and feel. The HP200P's responsive, durable design brings the legendary Iron Cobra legacy within everyone's reach.

A good pedal.
This really is a good pedal considering the price. First thing you'll notice is how smooth and stable it is. It's a solidly built pedal. The power cam really do makes a difference in the power and sound volume of the drum; it is a very smart innovation. I find it very helpful since I am a bit lite on my bass strikes and so this boosts the volume of my bass notes and doing so efficiently as well. If you're a budget conscious musician that needs a pedal that can do the job, look no farther.

Good for a beginner but not really for a professional.
I really began to like it but the two problems that led me to returning it were things I didn't think to check for when I first bought it. One was that there were no spikes under the pedal board to keep the pedal stable and that was important for me because I have an 18 inch kick drum that rests on a riser so if the pedal is not anchored to the floor with spikes then it can easily slide forward further Underneath the kick drum. The other thing I didn't think to look at but found out afterwards was that it was a single chain drive. professionals playing rock and top 40 gigs should always have a Double chain drive.

This bass drum pedal is very nice. The spring isn't too tight that you have to go to the gym just to use it and it isn't so loose that it doesn't spring back. It is very responsive and the mallet isn't obnoxiously heavy. As soon as I put it on I fell in love with this bass pedal. I would definitely buy another one.

I bought this to replace the original pedal that was with my Tama Swingstar set. A good upgrade from that, and for the price you pay for this, I think it's a good value. You're getting Tama hardware (which anyone who plays should know is pretty good), is sturdy, reliable, is well built, and offers an affordable pedal solution for someone looking for a decent single pedal. After tweaking the pedal adjustment settings, I got it right the way I like it. You can "thump" it without having to bury the beater into your drum and still get a decent sound. The beater does have two sides, so you can switch and play with whichever one you like that sounds best to you. The single chain drive works perfectly fine for me, and if you're really concerned about getting your pedal damaged by throwing it in your gear bag for gigs, get a case for it or carry it separately (keep it in the box maybe?) While it can't replace my old vintage Speed King (squeaks and all), it does an admirable job and for the price it is a great value! If you're looking for an affordable single pedal that will do just fine, you really should consider this Iron Cobra 200!

Is it possible to get a toe stop on the Tama Iron Cobra 200 bass drum pedal. I have an older pedal that doesn't have a toe stop on it either which I find to be weird since the foot has a tendency to slide forward into the chain.

Can you use the plastic side of the head or is it just meant to use the felt side?
