TAMA

Description

Tama's TDK10 drum key is purpose-built for touring and studio drummers who demand precision tuning and durability. Tama, a leader in drum manufacturing for over 50 years, designed the TDK10 with an ergonomic T-shape that fits comfortably in your hand and provides maximum leverage for quick tuning adjustments. The knurled knob opposite the socket end allows for rapid loosening and tightening of drumhead lugs during head changes. Constructed of chrome-plated steel, the TDK10 features a standard 1/4" socket that fits most drum lug nuts and tension rods. A keyring hole lets you attach the key to a lanyard or keychain so it's always within reach.

Ergonomic Design Means Faster, More Accurate Tuning

The T-shaped handle and rounded edges of the TDK10 provide an ergonomic grip for fast, precise tuning adjustments. Applying pressure is effortless, allowing you to quickly tighten or loosen drum lugs to achieve your desired tone. The TDK10's design minimizes hand fatigue during long tuning sessions, whether in the studio or preparing for a live show.

Knurled Knob Enables Rapid Head Changes

The knurled knob opposite the socket end gives you extra leverage to quickly loosen drumhead lugs when changing drumheads. Give the knob a firm twist and lugs spin free in seconds, speeding up the head changing process so you can get back to playing as fast as possible.

Road-Ready Construction

With a chrome-plated steel construction and standard 1/4" socket, the TDK10 is built to handle frequent use and the demands of touring. The chrome finish resists corrosion while the steel construction ensures durability. The TDK10's rugged build quality gives you a drum key that will last through years of tuning, head changes and time spent rattling around in your gear bag or stick bag.

I use the Tama chrome drum key in pairs when I change drum heads. You can use the top grooved knob area to spin the tension rods loose quickly ( after detuning) and vice versa when going back to finger tight. After that, tune as normal. Not as fast as a drumkey drill attachment, but offers more control.

  • Solid basic key, but Remo is better

I set up my son's first drum set with the similar Remo key and a ratcheting screwdriver. My son misplaced it, so when I got him silent stroke heads, I bought this one to make the swap. It works well, but is lighter than the Remo, so it won't spin the lugs with its own inertia like the Remo. The knurled knob on top helps spin them to finger tight, but the Remo has a hex top for use with a power screwdriver or racheting screwdriver to make things go really fast.

  • Great Little Drum Key

This is the same as any other standard square head drum key. I got mine with my Iron Cobra Hi Hat stand. The thing I love about this is that the grip is so meaty. I like to have something to hold onto. Other drum keys I've used are so tiny and uncomfortable. This may be a little expensive compared to the little $.99 drum keys, but this one is comfortable (to me.)
