Description

The variable-impedence Summit Audio 2BA-221 Tube Mic and Line Module is a microphone preamp that has individual controls to mix mic with Hi-Z or line inputs for variable vacuum tube output. You can mix them together through 12AX7A/ECC83 tube output or separately through individual solid state outputs. A stackable input design allows multiple 2BA-221s to be linked for a modular mixing device with individual outs, inserts per channel, and a final vacuum tube gain stage. Its swept high-pass filter, multiple simultaneous tube and solid state outputs, insert jack, and internal power supply makes the 2BA-221 a powerful tracking and mixing tool.

    I've been using this pre for a couple months now, and I've had nothing but good results. I don't run a studio, but rather record my own and my band's music on my personal gear. This pre has so many options I/O and such a great sound to it that it's a must for any smaller studios.

    The Summit Audio 2BA-221 is a great work horse in our studios. The overall construction is solid, the look is classy, and the sound is smooth and warm. Our favorite feature is the input impedence pot, allowing you to taylor the pre to the specific mic you're working with. This feature makes this pre sound great with most any mic! The 2BA-221 has all the features you would expect out of a pro mic-pre, polarity switch, built in pad, 48V phantom power, and a high-pass filter. Our only complaint might be that the filter adjustment is a little too narrow - 20 to 200Hz. For the price we were able to get two with the summit rack mount (works much better than a universal). This pair is among our favorite mic pres, highly recommended.
