Description

The Sterling by Music Man Short-Scale StingRay bass brings the legendary StingRay sound to players seeking an accessible, portable instrument. Packed with a single humbucking pickup and a 30" scale length, this bass delivers the iconic Music Man tone with punch and clarity in a compact, lightweight package. This Short-Scale StingRay bass is available in dazzling finishes sure to make a statement under the stage lights.

Diverse Tonal Options From a Single Pickup

Don't let its simple appearance fool you—the Short-Scale StingRay's single pickup hides a wealth of tonal diversity. Switch between parallel, true single-coil and series modes for tones ranging from modern and aggressive to vintage-inspired. The pickup's neodymium magnets provide a hot output ideal for cutting through a mix. Roll off the tone for a round, thumpy Motown-esque growl or crank it up for a biting slap tone. With a turn of a knob, you have a bass for any musical situation.

Play All Night in Comfort

The Short-Scale StingRay's 30" scale length and slim neck profile make it ideal for players of all hand sizes. The short scale reduces string tension for an ultracomfortable playing feel, while the narrow nut width allows your fingers to move freely across the fretboard. Practice for hours or perform all night—your hands will thank you for choosing this bass.

Make a Statement on Stage

Available in this classic looking Vintage Tobacco Burst finish, the Short-Scale StingRay bass is made to be seen under bright stage lights. Its contoured body shape catches the eye, while the matching painted headstock and hardware provide a cohesive, stylish appearance. Play the Short-Scale StingRay and make an unforgettable visual impression.

Premium Components for Professional Performance

Despite its accessible size and price, the Short-Scale StingRay bass is equipped like a professional instrument. It features a maple neck, rosewood fretboard and sturdy hardware designed to withstand the rigors of frequent performance and touring. Premium components like the fully shielded electronics and steel frets ensure this bass will provide years of trouble-free use.

I love stingrays but they were always heavy. I am a gigging bass player and this is a nice light bass. The pickup is a bit dark sounding however we play mostly 80s so its fine, just eq up the treble.I may upgrade the pickup to the Alnico someday, no hurry. If you want a light Stingray then this is it.

This is a killer little bass that is almost I distinguishable in sound from its Ernie Ball cousin (I own both). Of course there are differences but the bang for your buck of this little bass is amazing.

  • I love this bass so much!

The first fret has bad rattle. All strings especially the G. Everything else is set fine. I shouldn't have a problem like this with a brand new instrument. Taking mine in to guitar center for them to either set up properly(I expect it at no cost), replace or just give me a refund so I can go to Sweetwater music who is a much better retailer and has far better quality. This is the last thing I ever buy from a guitar center the whole ordeal has been a nightmare since placing the order and talking to 4 different people on the phone telling me 4 different things about my order status.

Will 40-90 light gauge flat wound short scale strings be too light?

    Open Reply - Thomas
No. It is a lot less tension and you may need to give the rod a 1/8 turn to make up for it. You may not. But they're good.
