Description
The StingRay Ray4HH Electric Bass is a dual-humbucker version of the legendary StingRay bass that adds even more tonal range and possibilities to Music Man's iconic design. Equipped with a 9V active preamp, a 5-way pickup selector switch and two Sterling by Music Man humbucking pickups, the Ray4HH delivers the bold, punchy StingRay sound with enhanced depth and fullness. The Ray4HH's lightweight poplar body and super-comfortable maple neck ensure this versatile bass plays as good as it sounds. For bassists seeking the iconic StingRay sound with greater tonal variety, the Sterling by Music Man StingRay Ray4HH is the perfect choice.
Powerful Pickups Provide a Wealth of Tones
The Ray4HH features a pair of Sterling by Music Man ceramic humbucking pickups—one in the bridge position and one in the middle. Together with the onboard active 2-band EQ and 5-way pickup selector switch, these pickups provide a wide range of tones for any playing situation. Roll off the highs for a warm, vintage thump or boost the mids and highs for an aggressive slap tone. With settings in between, the Ray4HH delivers the iconic Music Man sound with enhanced depth, fullness and harmonic richness.
Iconic StingRay Design with Greater Tonal Versatility
The Sterling by Music Man StingRay Ray4HH takes Music Man's timeless StingRay design and adds dual humbucking pickups for greater tonal range. Its contoured poplar body and fast-playing maple neck are instantly familiar, while its dual pickups, active preamp and 5-way selector provide a variety of full, punchy tones. For players seeking the legendary StingRay sound with more tones on tap, the Ray4HH is an ideal choice.
Premium Components for Rock-Solid Performance
Like all Music Man basses, the Ray4HH is built with premium components to deliver years of rock-solid performance. Its lightweight poplar body resonates fully while reducing fatigue during long gigs or practice sessions. The smooth maple neck features a comfortably narrow nut width and fast fretboard radius, ideal for both fingerstyle and slap techniques. Sterling by Music Man pickups provide a powerful yet musical tone, while the active preamp lets you shape your sound with ease.

Pleasantly Surprised
Wasn't a fan of Ernie Ball looks - they just didn't awe me. Also was not a fan of active pickups. The day I bought it I tried a bunch of different basses on a Fender Rumble 100 amp, since that is what I have. The sound was every bit as good as the few higher end basses I sampled. It also fit my hand and the length of my arm comfortably. I love the versatility with the equalizer and the ability to emmulate styles from Abba to ZZ Top (at least to my ears). I had no intention of buying this bass, but after spending about 25 minutes with it in my lap, I couldn't walk away. It produces sounds I don't get out of my passive basses. Love this bass! Gave it 4 stars only because it still has the dead spot on the G string, although it was better than many of the other basses I test drove that day. Can't give it a perfect score if it is not perfect.

Don't get one from Kansas City wearhouse
Played this bass at Clearwater FL store. It had a horrible buzzing on all the strings. Manager told me it would be 2 weeks until tech could look at it. Said it would cost me 50 bucks for setup on a brand new bass. Ordered one to be delivered to my house. Bass came out of KS City. New bass came in and it had the same issue. Buzz on all the strings and the strings are like playing on files. Finally got with Sterling. They sent me their setup measurements. After their setup, the buzz is still there. Decided to replace strings on my dime and found the plastic nut worn into the fret board. Also found the A string tuner jammed tight and will not turn. It's in the Guitar Center in Mobile, AL to hopefully get fixed correctly.

I've played guitar for many many years... had nothing else to do with my reward money so I got this bass. I actually enjoy playing it much more than I thought I would. I'm not a bass player so I can't really speak to how it sounds in comparison to other things out there, however quality wise it's really good. Tons of sound options, smooth and straight neck, stays in tune, good fret work. I've no complaints.

I am beyond happy with this purchase! This bass guitar sounds incredible and the functionality is great as well. It is easy to use, and works great with my Orange Bass Amp. The tone is very warm and can be manipulated to sound smooth or distorted. There are no downsides to this guitar that I have found yet, so I would definitely recommend it. #sweepstakes

This is my second bass after buying a no name to see if I'd enjoy playing. I've read complaints about the Color, and even about where someone bought theirs, (although what that has to with the bass, I dunno?), but I bought mine at guitar center, played before I bought and it was light years above what I already had. The Chopper blue is a gorgeous blue. The sound is solid, the neck is smooth and fast and as far as I'm concerned, you get a lotta bang for your buck. Would buy again.

Hello, Is this bass brand new? What is the weight by itself Thank you for your help and response
It's new. All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 8.5 – 9.5 lbs.submitted3 years ago

Why is it the buyer's responsibility to pay for setup if the bass comes from the factory not adjusted.... I am speaking of buying one from a store not online...
