Steinberg Cubase Studio 5 DAW Software

Some of the highlights of Cubase Studio 5
¢Drum sampling deluxe: Groove Agent ONE pairs powerful drum sampling with detailed sound shaping”all seamlessly integrated into Cubase. Not only does it boast import of sliced loop and MPC files, but also rocks right out of the box with its own custom library of acoustic, urban, and Hip-Hop drum kits.
¢Beat it: Beat Designer is a hot new beat construction plug-in that allows you to get hands-on with beats for step programming and designing drum patterns in an easy yet powerful way, working hand in hand with Groove Agent ONE.
¢On-the-fly pitch correction: The new Pitch Correct VST3 plug-in brings easy and automatic intonation control and scale correction of vocal and monophonic instrument recordings to Cubase.
¢New automation handling: More transparency and flexibility inautomation, with a new, large control panel for lightning-fast access, Suspend Read/Write, new commands, and more.
¢Rule-based consolidation: Cubase 5 interfaces CC data with the Cubase automation, bridging the gap between part-based MIDI controller and track-based automation data routed to the same target. Now it's easy to use both systems side by side and handle layered controller/automation data in a consistent way.

Cubase is the way to go. And Cubase 5 comes with so many more great features that's it's an amazing deal. My recommendation is to get the full version (not the studio). The only problem I had was that Cubase's "VST Bridge" ("bridges" 32-bit and 64-bit) can be extremely unstable. On the bright side, many Cubase users have been using Jbridge to fix this.
Much more stable than 4

I was not a big fan of Cubase 4. There are definitely things that I liked about it, but I had problems with stability on my system. Not a problem with 5. Cubase takes an interesting approach to setting up tracks and routing. It has really been thought out well.

This software is great for the DAW experienced. I would not recommend this for the novice. I like this software but I have to wonder if Cuckos Reaper would have been a better way to go. The main reason I chose this software was because I have used Steinberg software since 1998. The learning curves is less steep for those that have used other Steinberg software. That being said if you are a novice, the price is pretty steep for the software. For those that have used Steinberg software before; you will find much of this software familiar.
