Sounds great, but...

This is a great active bass. I love the sound of it. My only major gripe is that it seems to lack any kind of shielding, and depending on your surroundings and what other equipment is in use around it, it makes all sorts of crazy noises, has volume cut out, etc. I plan on opening it up and copper taping the heck out of the cavities, but it remains to be seen if that will help. As received, this thing is not usable in a gig situation, which is unfortunate. I've got cheaper passive Squiers and an active Sterling that perform just fine under the same circumstances that knock this thing out.
Unique, and apparantly no one knows about these yet!

Saw this used at my local GC and thinking it was an older model, decided to put some hold money on it. come to find out these are new...all good as I got this for a steal compared to new. What drew me to this is the unique color (and what made me think it was older, thought I remember the sunset metallic from an old series) then the roasted maple neck and indian laurel board blew me away. The humbuckers with active eq have a very modern sound (clear, with lots of harmonic content) and allow you to dial in a myriad of tones...but if you are looking for the classic P bass tone this may not be you're bass. I'd say it sounds more like an active Ibanez bass than a Pbass, which isn't a bad thing...it's just different.
