Great look questionable quality

Stoked about buying my first full size bass after saving money over the summer. Bass has a stunning look and was excited to purchase a 5 string jazz style bass. Unfortunately only got to play a few times then it started cutting out. Changed my cable, the battery but continued to cut out at other venues with their equipment . Took to the store since it's under warranty. Repairs guys opened it up and after a bit discovered it was the pre-amb!! Less than 3 weeks from purchase the guitar was shot! They recommended a full refund and reorder because they had little confidence that the parts would be sent to repair (only one was in stock out of state- floor model but rep said it appeared to be in great condition) . Absolutely disappointed in the quality but going to give it another go. Fingers crossed that the new one comes in stellar condition and free of disfunction! Service department at guitar center was great, the outcome sucks though!

Picked this up for a great price and I'm loving it thus far. I've had many jazz basses and this thing is solid. Not sure why such bad reviews. Id say grab it!
Prepare to spend more on this bass…

A disappointing release from the Squier catalog. Tuners were extremely hard to turn when tuning and electronics were noisy. Best to look elsewhere otherwise get ready to spend more on aftermarket parts and electronics just to get this bass sounding like a $500+ bass
Avoid this bass!

I was very excited to get this bass. I had always wanted a 5-string and had also wanted to try a Fender or Squier Jazz bass. I also primarily play rock/metal type music, so this bass checked all the boxes for me! I pre-ordered it in early March of 2002. It wasn't until Early October of 2002 that I actually had it in my hands. When I pulled it out of the box, I loved the way it looked and felt, and it played very well. I thought this was going to be the bass I had been looking for. Then I plugged it in..... It played beautifully for a minute or two and I loved the way it sounded. Then all of the sudden the sound cut out and I had this horrendous squeal coming out of my amp. I thought, that was weird. I tried a different cable, and I was getting the same weird cutting out and squealing. So I tried a different amp....same thing. Then I tried a few diffrent cables and had the same problem. I looked on the Fender website and they told me to bring it to a local Fender dealer for a warranty repair. I brought it in, and the tech discovered that it had some "shoddy soldering" on the circuit board. They fixed that and called me and said it was good to go! Excited, I hopped in my car and picked up the bass and got it home and plugged it in and was very happy to hear that it was once again playing perfectly. A few minutes later, I got the horrendous squeal again!! I felt quite defeated. This bass that I was so excited about, so excited to get, and so excited to play was just riddled with problems. Now I have to bring it back to the guitar shop to have them look at it again. .....and I don't live close to this shop, the closest one is 1/2 hour away from where I live so I am spending quite a bit of time driving back and forth to get this thing looked at. I have always heard that the Squier line of basses and guitars are a great value for your money and they are well worth it. I can't tell you, at least in my experience, they are not. I would avoid this bass like crazy till they can get their quality control in line. For me, time to hop back in my car and drive to the repair shop for the second time!!!

I’m sorry. Our instruments ship in factory sealed boxes. We do not check new instruments.submitted3 years ago

What is the weight capacity of othis item?
All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 8.5 – 9.5 lbs.submitted4 years ago
