Amazing Value, Inspiring Tone!
This is my new favorite guitar out of a collection of custom Fender strat (lot of work into), Tele, 2 Gretsch's and a Les Paul and a Danelectro U2 '56 Reissue. If you want an amazing unique looking, sounding, and playing guitar this could be the best bang for your buck on the entire market! I used to own the high end custom shop Fender Johnny Marr Jaguar (a major influence of mine) and this guitar IMHO is a much better sounding, looking and playing instrument. The fit and finish of the guitar and beautiful, especially love the block inlays and bound fret board. I fell in love with this guitar in the store, was very impressed by the diversity of tones, sound quality and quality of the pots. The rhythm circuit is warm and rich and not "dull" but mellow. Can be used for pure jazz especially when rolling off the tone/treble. The switches are quite easy to understand and provide another 6 settings in the main circuit. If you take the time to experiment with these, you'll be amazed that you can get nearly any level of warm to cutting sharp tones. Even in the brightest settings, bridge pickup with full open tone knob, there's still a warmth to the tone. I attribute that to the body wood which is basswood. Don't let anyone tell you that is "cheap wood". Yes it's soft and not overly heavy, but this provides a very warm and open tone. I'm also impressed by the level of sustain I can get out of the guitar. Because the guitar uses 1K pots in the main circuit, the level of treble is extremely high, but the fine and smooth tapered pots allow you to roll off or dial in as much as you want or need. The top end is only gradually reduced as you roll of the volume which allows you to control the gain/drive using the volume knob alone! VERY COOL!!! I'm pretty sure the nut is bone, but I don't intend on chainging it. Now, for the cons that can all be fixed if you know what you're doing or willing to pay a pro for a proper setup. The fret ends will likely need to be smoothed

Quality Issues
I'm giving this a solid 2 star rating out of the box. I would like to say that after a proper setup, this guitar plays and feels absolutely great. I don't know what Fender/Squire is doing with their QC department. Sure, this isn't a high end guitar, but the price on the CV series is Squire's top end, and should at least come somewhat playable out of the box. I got this brand new in a box, this was not a wall hanger. First off, the guitar was absolutely filthy. Grime all over it. I couldn't believe how dirty this thing was. The fret work was some of the worst I've seen. They were sharp, dirty, and uneven. Like most new guitars, the fretboard was extremely dry. The neck shim was a small piece of sandpaper, which gave zero pitchback. The bridge screws were lose, and would not stay raised. The tuners were covered in dirt/grime. When you try to tune up, the A/D/B tuners feel extremely tight. I wonder if they're full of dirt/filth? The electronics came in extreme poor condition. When I plugged it in, the lead pickups wouldn't work unless I jiggled the mid tone cut back and forth. I had to remove the lead circuit switch cover and clean everything. Shockingly there was dirt covered on the bottom of the switch. The wiring looked extremely poor as well. After cleaning it did work properly. Next string change I plan on checking the rest of the wiring, as I'm sure it needs to be cleaned up. I did not have any issue with the vibrato making noise like a lot of people complain about. The bone nut is nice, but the cut on it is absolutely horrible. Bottom line - For Squire's top end pricing, I feel that this guitar was not worth the price tag. If you don't have the tools to do a proper setup, plan on spending a few hundred to have someone do it. At that price range, you might be better off just spending a few $$$ more and buying a MIM version.

Personal use. Love the features including the variety of sounds. With its history of going out of tune when using the tremolo, makes it an adventure to overcome this challenge. Thank goodness for YouTube consultations and advise. I am enjoying the journey.
I would buy this product again and again

I love the versatility with the different tones on the guitar itself. Not to mention, I love the blue finish and overall is a beautiful masterpiece to look at. I play this guitar every single day and will continue to do so till my very last breath.

The guitar right out of the box is obviously gorgeous. Sounds better than my strat even without an amp. However the guitar was missing screws in tremolo. Warranty card/info missing. Some screws in bridge are already bent m. It's had about a 2 hours of careful playing time. Already buzzing like crazy.
What's not to love about Shell Pink??

I bought this guitar because I wanted: • single coil pickups • controls with great flexibility • 24" scale length • bound neck with block inlays • oversize '70s headstock • Fender vintage-style tremolo • Shell P!nk It's not possible to buy any other guitar model new from Fender/Squier at this price point that meets these specs, aside from Custom Shop which is $3000+. There are very few Fender Jaguar models (7) compared to Fender Strat (59), Fender Tele (52). It feels and sounds like a minty vintage instrument but cost me less than $400. I recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the surf guitar vibe. This is basically a vintage-accurate Fender which is not expensive since it's built in Indonesia. Guitar builders in Indonesia are clearly capable and skilled craftspeople, as it shows on this Squire CV '70s Jaguar. And what's not to love about Shell Pink?
