Nice bass for the price
I really like the look, feel, and simplicity of the 50's P Bass. Fender itself does not make one anymore, leaving the Squire as the only option. Squire makes better instruments than Fender only collectors and vintage only players think. They are the only ones who will notice the "Squire" logo and care. The wood on this is good. Neck is straight and feels good. The frets are finished and good. Tuners are nickel plate and fine. Bridge is nickel plate and fine, with fully adjustable saddles that are nickel plated. The finish is good--providing you like it thick which I do, and was how it was in the 50's I suppose. Sound is good, but I will change the pickup to a Seymour SCPB-3 quarter Pound and change the pots for sure, maybe to Fender Vintage. I will eventually change the nut to bone as well. The sound is good--but can be made more like I want it with those changes. I will practice and rehearse with this now, and likely gig with this after the changes. Squire instruments are so much better than the similar priced gear available when I started playing in bands, when a new Fender anything was a grand without a case, and a Gibson was unthinkable. The knockoff instruments we played then until we could afford a Fender or a Gibson often ran $225-$400 new, and honestly were not as good as this Squire is.

Not the angel I dreamed of
If by vintage you mean heavy? The body is twice as thick as it needs to be.?The pup is also vintage, low power and thin. The pots and wiring produce vintage noise.., I had mods made to make it playable, but it wasn't a great experience

I'm not really a "review" guy, but I have read a few and this is my second guitar purchase that I made that was influenced by the reviews and to be honest I'm thrilled with them both. This bass is awesome and beautiful! The action can probably be brought in a little closer but it's playing great right out the box. When I was young along time ago I had purchased a Fender P bass from a newspaper add, I did not know what I had and let's say I would not spend that much to replace it today. Other than the fact that this one says Squire on the headstock it feels like Fender.

It sounds great! It has a nice feeling neck with a simple single coil pickup that gives a great sound. My only complaints are that the pickup feels a tad cheap, the neck is glossy which I'm just personally not huge on and, the A string buzzes which seems to be a common issue.
Love the guitar but got no fender paperwork or no Allen wre.

Great Low Cost Bass

This is a great low cost bass with an old school vibe. I put flatwound strings on mine and it gets a nice low end thump. I'm going to change out the pickup and electronics and put higher grade pots and caps in. But there is really nothing wrong with the stock set-up. There is a little buzz/hum with the pickup unless your hand is grounded on the strings but single coil pickups will do this. I think I can eliminate a lot of this with copper shielding the pickup and control cavities and better grounding. I put a chrome bridge cover on it like the ones that came stock on the actual 50's P-basses. I play this bass thru a Fender Rumble 500 combo amp and it really gets the room shaking. I play old school country, 70's rock, reggae, and rootsy hillbilly music. I have P/J basses, Jazz basses and Rics. This bass can stand up with all of them. It can do any genre of music and isn't just a one trick pony.

Hi there, I'm thinking about ordering the Squier Classic Vibe 50's Precision Bass, and I just wanted to know that under the features, when it says it comes with a 'vintage-tint gloss neck finish' that means the maple will have a more orangish color rather than the light pale color of other maple necks ... is that correct? Because that's what I'm going for. If you could let me know I'd be greatly appreciative, thank you
Yes it is the case.
