Great Deal~

I'm a hack guitar player so I don't spend too much on gear. I already owned a Squier Affinity Tele that I loved but wanted something with a little crunch to go with my Tele's twang. I looked at a couple different models but kept coming back to the Affinity HH. I'm glad I did! Got a discount on it for being blemished but out of the box I couldn't find a single blemish on the black body, neck, or black headstock. Looked all over and not a blemish to be found. It'll show some dust if you leave it sit and some fingerprints but that's to be expected with a black guitar (have same issue with my Ibanez black acoustic-electric). Frets were level with no buzz. Neck was incredibly smooth. Body is solid and not too heavy. Hardware is what I expected having already owned an Affinity Tele. Good stuff for the price but not professional by any means and shouldn't be expected to be. PIckups sounded a lot better than expected but the neck pickup does distort a bit at louder volumes. Might look into having some other pickups installed down the road but for a player of my ability I'm pleased. Tuners and pots are quality If you're looking for a well made guitar at a great price you can't go wrong with a Squier. Now that I have two I'm thinking of adding a Starcaster so I have a hollow body/semi hollow body in my noise arsenal.

Don't believe the hype.

I'm a street musician. I play and sing rock. I need a guitar that's light, has perfect intonation across the fret board, stays in tune and is preferably inexpensive because it's going to take a beating. This guitar is too heavy for me since I play 4 to 5 hours a day. The intonation seems great so if it were lighter I could make it work. Other bad things that I could overlook if it weren't for the weight: Razor sharp fret ends, neck pickup has no output, extremely sloppy tuning machines and unstable tuning. I had planned to swap out tuning machines and pickups so some of those issues wouldn't effect me but I'm sure most people would like a usable guitar out of the box.

I was able to plop some Jim Root EMG's into this but be warned, it takes some modding. You'll have to router out a lump of wood in the cavity for the switch and pots to make room for the battery. It's five minutes with a Dremel, easy peasy, but just know you're not getting a 9v battery in there as is.

  • I might buy another one.

The Graph Tech Ratio locking tuners fit this without modification.

  • Great platform to mod and turn into a great guitar!

I bought this squier on sale because I wanted to get a inexpensive telecaster to modify into a more modern rock guitar. Let me first say the guitar is really beautiful guitar, especially for the cost, but just be prepared to do some fretwork, the frets were really rough and gritty and the fretboard was really dry. But after taking some time and patience dressing the frets and going over the fretboard and back of neck with Dunlop 65 lemon oil, the guitar now plays extremely well and smooth. I added locking tuners and new daddario strings and dimarzio pickups and for the amount of time and money spent I couldn't be happier with the results!

  • The best intermediate guitar out there

I consider myself to be an intermediate level player on the electric as I've now been playing around 3 years, after 40yrs of sticking with acoustic. First, this guitar is absolutely beautiful. Second, for the price I really don't think you'll find a better guitar. This maybe be an "economy" priced Fender, but I assure it is made to the same standard as the more expensive lines. I expected the guitar to perhaps need some tweaking out of the box as many do, but I was literally able to unwrap it, plug it in, and start playing. It was even nearly perfectly in tune already. I cannot praise the humbucking pickups enough. The sound was just phenomenal. I truly cannot believe that a guitar of the quality can be found for under $300. Also, even though I'm an intermediate player, a beginner would in no way struggle with this guitar. If you're in the market and don't want to break the bank, you absolutely will not be disappointed with this Affinity Telecaster.

  • Amazing guitar for the price!

I got this because I love the Tele body style but wanted something a bit more "metal". I already planned on switching the pickups out with Seymour Duncans but didn't know I'd have to be swapping the electronics as well. Pots were very "scratchy" right off the bat and that's the only reason it didn't get 5 stars. Besides that this guitar feels amazing. The neck is slick and the body weight is just right. Great bang for the buck.
