After playing guitar for more than 50 years, I finally followed through on my long-delayed promise to start learning and playing bass. This model is great for beginners and experienced musicians who would like a quality bass at a price that won't hurt the wallet. It was set up pretty well out of the box, minor tweaks were made, just a little truss rod adjustment and intonation and it's now a very good, comfortable and beautiful bass guitar. It's as heavy as the heaviest guitar I own (8.7 lbs) but not heavy enough to be a problem for my 70-year old shoulders & neck! Highly recommended. It was delivered in very solid packaging, within a week of ordering it. Very happy with the purchase experience and the product!

I bought this on a whim, wanting "real" bass sounds on my home recordings. I am pleasantly surprised at the build quality and playability of this instrument. It's solidly built, with a nice trim neck and reasonably good action, which I easily adjusted when I started playing it. It produces round notes and provides a good bottom end to my music, especially with the neck pickups. Not perfect, with some rough frets in the upper part of the neck, and the bridge pickup is kind of dull, but it stands up pretty well against some of my expensive guitars in fit and finish. A real surprise for the money. Great if you're testing the waters for a bass without committing big bucks.

A good replacement for my MIJ Squire P-Bass

I purchased this bass from my local Guitar Center. I owned a early 80s Squire P bass that was almost a carbon copy of this one, minus the bridge pickup of course. Long story short...I sold it years ago and a part of me has always regretted that. Fast forward to Christmas time, 2024. I'm going through storage for my Christmas decor and there sits an old 70s model Fender "Musicmaster Bass" tube amp, using a 12" speaker. It needed a speaker, but I had an old Univox 12" amp I could pull the speaker from just to test it. So, I did just that. Even though that Fender had sat untouched, it worked like a charm. Then it REALLY hit me. I wanted another Fender to pair with this amp. Now, I know I wasn't going to find a Squire like I had. But I was hoping I could find one like it. So off to Guitar Center I went. They had the "regular" Squire P model and then they has this one I'm reviewing. The PJ model. I played both but that PJ model REALLY made me smile. The looks alone was SO close to the bass I sold. Even has the stripe down the back of the neck. This model however seems to have more low end. Like some other had said, the tone of those dual pickups are simply wild. They had it plugged into some sort of Ampeg amp/cab and man does this thing GROWL. The feel was almost spot on on comparison to my old Squire P bass as well. Within a few minutes I had it purchased and in the car. When I got home, i plugged it into my old Fender amp and again, I was blown away. Even on a old amp with a open back, I could feel the floor vibrate when the dual pick up were on. The staff had no issues letting me play it. They answered all my questions. Even for a beginner, or someone who has been playing since he was a teen such as myself (I'm 35 now), this bass is great. Tuners are smooth. Volume and tone knows feel good (not as good as my old bass but they'll certainly work). And the looks are killer! Give this bass a chance. Plug it into a good amp and enjoy that classic Fender rumble, feel, and tone.

This is my first bass. I play guitar and drums, and just had the itch to add this to my recordings. The guitar seems to be well built and has a solid tone. The Tuners could be better, but I love the Look of the Oversized tuners. I guess the pick ups are OK, since the tone is decent. It's very playable with a slim C shaped neck. The radius is small on the neck, making it even easier to play. It seems like a good entry-level instrument and certainly an amazing deal for the cost of a premium guitar strap. Fit and finish was surprisingly good, with just a tad bit of rough front edges at the top of the neck. Not really a big deal.I played it through a Crybabby pedal at home and it gave it a nice growl. Fun to play.

Where do I plug in the cord to connect it to the amp?
On your Squier Affinity Series Limited-Edition PJ Bass, you plug the cord (instrument cable) into the output jack, which is located on the bottom edge of the bass body, right next to the strap button on the lower side. Here's a quick step-by-step: Take a standard ¼-inch instrument cable (same type you'd use for an electric guitar). Find the metal jack plate on the lower side of the bass (if you’re holding the bass normally, it’s at the bottom near where your strumming/picking hand rests). Plug one end of the cable firmly into that jack. Plug the other end into the input of your amp (usually labeled "Input").submitted2 years ago

I want to get a warm full sound with this, i am considering getting flatwounds for this purpose but wanted to know if the bass itself will assist in getaway the sound I'm looking for, if it doesn't do you have any recommendations for how I can best get what I'm looking for (by the way I'm on a low budget)
"warm full sound"-----"flatwounds" This is a great choice. This is better---------Squier Sonic Precision Bass 2-Color Sunburst. You don't want that bridge pup. The original Precision Bass is the sound you want.submitted2 years ago
