Squier Affinity Series Bronco Bass Guitar Black

I wanted to get a shorter scale bass since I have arthritis in my hands and playing my Thunderbird was starting to become really painful due to its jumbo fret size. I was a bit skeptical about this bass because it sort of looks like a toy at first glance, but this little guy won me over immediately. Only had to do some minor adjustments out of the box to get the action just right, and it sounds absolutely amazing. I'm amazed at how clean and powerful the lower notes sound on this bass, even when cranked down to drop C. It doesn't have that "growly" tone that you get with larger basses, but it does sound nice and deep. The higher notes could be a bit brighter and punchier, but that doesn't bother me too much. Best of all, it's extremely comfortable to play and doesn't hurt my hands nearly as much. This would be a great bass for kids or guitar players, but even more experienced bass player will probably find it fun to play.

I have played bass professionally since 15 and I'm 61. This bass plays great right out of the box. The neck is beautiful and I love the feel. The pickup is fine. Any professional musician knows you can pre-amp to get any sound you want so that's not an issue. The quality of basses today are so much better than the stuff we played years ago. I've gigged with this bass and played everything from funk to classic. Good players know how to "make the sound." Just read about Tommy Tedesco. One guitar & lots of sound. I've watched reviews and it's obvious the "snobs" don't like to give it a good rating because it's a Squire. Fine ... sand the name off, add thumb rests, cover the pickup and bridge with guards and call it "custom"! You only need one bass now just learn how to play. PS - read Carol Kaye's article on muting the bridge with foam to get better compression. These are the tricks you need to master.

You know when you and your soulmate find that groove and things are clicking. Other people cease to look sexy. You draw up some joint compact with all these lofty statements. You lock yourselves in a cabin and eschew the outside world for your love. People stare at you when you go to the store for toilet paper and Vaseline. It's like that with this cheap little janky bass.

Bass came with a few scuffs and screws not inserted correctly. It's been a pleasant experience otherwise

If you have trouble with full-size bass, this is great. I play it daily. Light and easy to play, and the short neck makes it easy on the wrists.
