Description

The Affinity Series Jazz Bass V (five-string) is a value-priced version of the world-famous Fender Jazz Bass guitar. It has the look and tone that everyone knows and loves, at an ultra-economical price point. Ideal for modern bassists who require an extended low-end reach, the highlight of this bass are the growling and punchy Jazz Bass V pickups.

One-piece maple neck with Indian Laurel fingerboard
A strong one-piece maple neck enhances vibration transfer from the strings while the rosewood fingerboard offers an elegant cosmetic touch.

Single-coil jazz bass v pickups
The single-coil Jazz Bass V pickups are designed to deliver modern tone and performance from five-string basses with famous guttural midrange and singing high end.

Top load bridge
A top load bridge creates a slightly "slinkier" feel by reducing the break angle of the strings over the saddles. The individual saddles can be adjusted for precise intonation along each string.

Always wanted a 5 string bass. The Jazz V is a lot easier to find than a P-Bass V hanging on the wall of most music stores. I like the look of the Jazz better anyway, so at my local Gut Center I tried it out. No fret buzz, intonation was spot on on 3 of the strings, fixed that on the spot with my leatherman, and determined that it was a good example of the make. It had been dropped and damaged on the corner under the knobs, but the thing felt right, and they offered me a good discount, so I told them to wrap it up, I'm taking it. Got it home, been playing it daily. I've never had a bass so kind to the hands and so rewarding to manipulate. Swapped the .047uf cap with a 0.1 cap, because I love a tone control that really controls the (tones). I also like the 5 in a row tuners. I know the 4+1 tuner setup is technically better but it still looks like an afterthought to me. I also like that it says "JAZZ BASS" on the headstock as opposed to that truncated "JBASS" nonsense. The rest of the instruments I tried around that price point felt poorly by comparison, so Squier is doing something right. I ordered a Squier Bronco a few weeks later for short scale fun, and was no less impressed.

I've been looking for a 5 sting for awhile just for something new to play with. Feel in love with this at the store playing and with the price it was a no brainer for me. If you have some extra money and not sure what to do with it, treat yourself with this bass and you won't be disappointed.

Recording, and just having fun playing it. I didn't have a five string and tried many others and I finally gave the affinity v jass bass a shot and so, so glad I did. There was no set up needed, even the strings are great! Best feel and sounding bass I have ever played.

  • I would buy another

I play at church and coming from a 4 string I'm really liking the lows I can get with the added b-string. I was very impressed with the build quality, the finish is very nice. It's so nice that I doubt I would pay for a premium bass! It really looks and sounds awesome. I did do some set up adjustments to make it play and sound better for my style.

if i purchase a bass guitar from the guitar center, will it be 'set up' or is that an additional service charge, and if so, how much?

I want to get a bass guitar but i'm not sure if a Jazz bass or a Precision bass could give me more of a heavy metal kind of tone. I want to purchase A bass guitar that has that intensity and heaviness but i'm not sure which one would be the most similar to my needs.

    Open Reply - Kenneth
P basses generally will have a warmer, lower tone than jazz basses
