Money really well spent
I just installed a set of these on my mex strat and wow! What a difference! I'm chunkin' down on a stock Fender whammy and for the most part I'm staying in tune! I've solved 95% of my tuning problems and holy hanna! It might just be a psychological effect, but the strings seem to sound more tonally balanced and stable as well. It must be the way that my strings are now riding over the nut. I love that I was able to get rid of that poxy lil' sting guide from my headstock too. If you're looking to upgrade your mex as I did, you'll need to do some minor drilling for the locking pin. Never fear. It's easy and the new tuners will hide the factory holes from the OEM tuners.

I ordered these for my Strat after reading good reviews. They come in two versions, graduate and non-graduated. I ordered the non-graduated. When I got them, the were the graduated set. I thought I'd try them, but the shortest two barely stick through the heaqdstock on my American Standard. Also I didn't want to drill the headstock and the Sperzel retaining pin is right in the middle of the original holes so that wold have meant 3 holes in a row and I figured, that might create a fault in the stock and the possiblility for a future tearout or crack in the headstock should (worst case scenario) your guitar get bumped, dumped or whatever and it hit on that tuner, but I liked the tuners and I really wanted black ones which no one seemed to have. So... I sent these back and asked for the graudated ones. Guess what? The next set they sent me were graduated as well. So... I sent those back and bought some Fender Black chrome from a different site. As G center did not stock those -New Product.

One thing I wish all suppliers would do is offer sprezels complete anodized line to include the blues, greens, reds, etc.......Sprezel IMO is the king of tuners. I have used the Steinberg 40:1 gear less and still prefer the sprezels when it comes to building a custom guitar.

These are on every guitar I own except one, and it has planet waves(dont bother) I put these on my MEXI Strat along with an LSR roller Nut and It stays in tune perfectly. I can dive bomb just like a Floyd Rose and It will hold tune.If you ever played a Strat you know that if you even Touch the Bar it will go out...BUT Not with These. Carvin guitars install them Stock thats how I first heard of them and I am a Lifer..The BEST,,, HANDS DOWN......

I was ready to nail my goldtop 2003 Fender Showmaster to the wall and call it "art" ... I was so frustrated with it never staying in tune. I just installed the Sperzel locking tuners (& Gibson Humbucker strings) and WOW! What a difference. I played in a 4-hour jazz jam session over the weekend and the Showmaster STAYED IN TUNE! Good gawdamighty. What an incredible difference. Thanks Sperzel! If you have a contankerous guitar that won't stay in tune, you have to buy a set of these locking tuners.

These tuners were fairly easy to install. I shortened a drill bit to get the proper depth for the pin. The tuning machines are top quality and make it faster to change strings. The inline Strat set is staggered, so you don't need string trees, which is great. The tone is better, too.
