Sound Percussion Labs

collapse expand iconDescription

Most drummers have experienced the problem of noise complaints practicing in apartments or late at night. Hi-hat cymbals can be loud and penetrating but Sound Percussion's Hi-Hat cymbal mutes quiet the sound, yet retain the feel of the hi-hats.

The cymbal mute is constructed of an ultrathin material that closely approximates the feel and touch of a stick hitting the hats. Immediately, drummers will notice a vast improvement over existing mutes and the makeshift use of towels, tape and blankets. It is a breeze to get up and ready. It installs and removes in seconds, just place it on the hi-hats, and play.

Inexpensive and easy to use. Dampens the sound of my hi hats by about 90 percent, leaving just a brisk metallic click when wood meets cymbal. That's with both mutes installed and the hi hats closed. If they're open, a smack with the drumstick yields a quiet little clank. Not intended to be musical of course, unless you've got some unusual tricks up your sleeve, but to let you *rapidly* convert part of your regular kit into a practice piece. Highly unlikely that your neighbors will hear this. I've also bought two Pearl 900 series stands (hi hat and snare) from these folks. Prices and service have all been satisfactory. Rock on.

  • They feel pretty good, I must say...

I only wish they made these in a 13 inch size, that said, I love them once I made the size reduction to fit them for my hats. When you really lay into them you can feel the top hat surface in the stick tip so they are satisfying to play as far as the fingertips are concerned, the ears however, don't like them and wish you would take them off immediately, the neighbors are all smiles. no brainer here... A smart buy.
