Worst Purchase and Horrible Customer Care
This is the worst purchase I have ever made from guitar center and of course because it's drums, and you have to actually play them to find out how bad they are, now they are unreturnable. Do not buy! The associate assured us in the store that this is a decent starter set and then when I brought the hihat back to get her to try and adjust it she admitted, well if you're going to actually take lessons and learn to play I wouldn't recommend this set! I get that these are cheap cymbals, but with the high hat closed (which out of the box the clutch hit the bottom seat and the cymbals couldn't even touch!) it sounds like hitting a cookie sheet. I think I could actually get a nicer closed hihat hit sound with two pie tins. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out if I go for a whole other used or new kit, or just get a decent hihat stand and cymbals, either way we are not happy with our purchase.

Deal of the day purchase for my two year old son

I bought this set for my son who just turned 2 years old. He still needs to grow just a hair to comfortably sit on the lowest position and be able to reach the bass drum and hi-hat pedals but I wasn't expecting it to since I think it's age range states that it's mint for kids at least 3 or 4 years of age. I would have opted for something that would last him a little longer, but I got it for 40% off. The kit sounds decent for what it is. The drums sound better than I had expected but the hardware could stand some improvement compared to other beginner kits (like the Ludwig pocket kit which was way too big for him).
What do you expect?

It's about what you'd expect for the price. The drums aren't bad actually, but the hardware is so flimsy. I wish the high hats had a better mechanism.

I was advised by one of your team members that this was a standard drum kit for adults. Was also advised that it was fine for adults. Just was a major sale. I ordered the kit and it's for children. I kept and gifted to a child at my church. But I was misled by a member of your company.
Great little starter's kit...

Hey for a kids drum kit this is plenty to play cajun against and just to make some percussion happen...
Would buy again and recommend.

We bought this set for our nine-year-old son. However my husband and I along with our 16 year old daughter also love to play it. It sounds great!

I need tom heads, cymbals for both the high hat and crash for the kit. The kit itself is in great condition, but we want to replace the items for our friend's child before we give it to him. Link please? I"ve tried 8" high hat cymbals, and 9" cymbals; only to see $100+ cymbals. Please clarify.
For an 8” hi –hat, put 'Meinl HCS Hi-Hat Cymbal Pair 13 in.' in the search bar. For the Tom head 'Aquarian Classic Clear With Power Dot Tom Head 8 in.'For the cymbal 'Meinl HCS Crash Cymbal 14 Insubmitted7 years ago

Are the shells prone to cracking with changing temperatures? I have a closed in sun room but the walls are quite thin and it does get cold in there when the weather does would it be ok to store it in there?
Extreme temperatures are required to cause cracking for the most part. As long as you make an effort even slightly you should be fine. I had a similar room for my drums and I just covered them with a thick blanket and it worked out alright.
