  • Feels like a bass that should cost twice what it does.

If you are thinking of dropping $1500 on an American made Fender, check out the Sires first. It feels, plays, and sounds like a professional quality instrument, but costs half as much.

I bought this bass as a backup, but it has earned its spot in the starting rotation. The build quality and appearance are good, and the tone is excellent. The B string is surprisingly clear and articulate, with no muddy notes down low and and no odd harmonic overtones up the neck. It does sound very much like a Jazz Bass, and I have been happy to run it in passive mode for my country gigs. BTW, it does go from active to passive with no real change in volume. It runs through the PA at my church sounding full and fat with a little bass boost. This bass really is as good as a much more expensive one.

Plays great, sounds great and looks great! I have been playing bass in bands since the early 1980s, and this Sire sounds great up and down the neck. A big plus is the active electronics with the sweep-able mid control. When you open the box and look at the quality and plug it in, you will think they gave you a $1,000 discount on this instrument.

Hello! I'm just wondering if you can tell me how much this bass weighs? I've been wanting to try a Sire bass, but I'm nervous that it will be too heavy for my aging back. If you can get me one that's around 9 lbs or less, I may very well order it today! Thank you!

This one weighs around 10.2 lbs. The weight may vary from one model to the other, but it won't by much.

How much does the lake placid 5-string Alder bass weigh

    Open Reply - Thomas
All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood . Even the same model can vary up to a 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it This will be about 8.5 - 9.5 lbs
