    realy great for the price

ive been playing music for twenty years and I have to say when I saw this I was a little hesitant on buying it so I did anyway and it is very responsive .you can adjust the volume and sensitivity on each pad . there is a user kit that you can customize to your liking . I turned my hi hat pedal into another bass drum and boom dbl bass was possible. im using this for practice like writing music and throwing down some easy tracks so my real drummer can hear how the rhythm is going to go . I play guitar and also the drums and this little guy (sd100) JAMS buy it you wont be disappointed

Known defective product shipped to customer

Product suits its purpose well. However, some employee of Guitar Center removed the main module and replaced it with one from another set - leaving me this one which has a factory defect in one screw hole used for the snare drum leg (Assembly Instruction Step 1). (I carefully cleared the hole and was able to assemble the unit. However, the serial number of the unit I received does not match what is on the invoice - and this defective unit should have been returned to the manufacturer or fixed rather than selling to another customer.)

So I got this drum kit and it did say on that this kit was blemished, so I was expecting a scratch or something along those lines. But the kit was essentially broken. The screw to hold the snare was pushed inside the drum kit. This kit is amazing for a starter kit, don't get me wrong. But if you don't feel comfortable unscrewing snared and Circuit boards. Try and get a new and not open box one.

    • Great addition to a small room or studio for recording track

l highly support buying this product if you are beginning as a drummer or need a compact set for recording studio tracks or even a small concert venue, its very durable, hit-sensitive and delivers the sound. Pads are adjustable and can be assigned to any module, through plug in or the voice input.

This is not a bad drum kit, but it is not a good one. I had it less then 1 year and where the kick peddle connects to the frame broke. It slides across the floor while playing, I had to put silicon on the kick peddles. After less then 2 years I went to play it an the kick fot the bass got no sound. Turned out the brain for the sett went out. I had the protection plan. I plan on buying the SD 500. This set could be much better with duel zone snare and cymbals. I had the protection plan, and they were very good in dealing with the issues. Sending it back was easy and the honored the plan. If you get this set get the protection plan, you will regret it if you do not . Over all it was a fun set to play, I would have rated it 3 stars if it have not gone bad.

I own Roland and Alesis drum kits at two locations and have had very good experience with sound samples and adjustments. I wanted a 3rd kit but more compact for quick out the door and set up. The Simmons compact set was great on portability and being sturdy. Electronically, volume too low on regular headphones (had to use ear buds from my phone) and volume too low on bass drum. Did not match or balance with rest of kit. Had to take back.

Is the drum in the front middle the snare? If so, can it be move around to comfortable position apart from the center?

      Open Reply - Ronald
Yes it is the snare, and all of the drum and cymbal triggers are attached to brackets that make them fully adjustable.

My brother had this, I just dug it out of the trash, I noticed it wiggles around a lot, I thought the drum kit was incomplete because of the way the stands designed, anyway, he accidently knocked it over and the motherboard broke, is there a way to fix this? or is it going to cost so much its not worth fixing?

      Open Reply - Ronald
If the motherboard means the part of the drumset that all the drums and cymbals plugs into, you can actually just get the module itself worst case scenario. Give us a call at 866-498-7882 and we can help get you set up with the correct module.

The video sounded like hitting metal instead of the deep sounds of drums. If connected to a decent amplifier will the sound be similar a regular drum set. Is there a small connected box that allows for stored songs. temp, etc. Confused when the review say good for messing around the house but would not work for playing out in public. Does that mean that the sound is too low and not giving the actual sounds of drum?

      Open Reply - Charles
With a decent amplifier it could sound like a regular drum set. The module does have a USB out that you can send to a computer to store songs but there is nothing on the module. The reviewers opinion that the set is something fun to play around the house but in a live setting would be inadequate. This is an entry level, beginner's drum set and should not be confused with professional electronic drums that are 10 time the cost.

My son is interested in learning to play drums. This looks to be a good starter kit. I know nothing about drums so my question is do you have to have an amp to play these ?

It doesn't show it well enough to decipher what brand or model it is, but was I would recommend is to stop by a store and try a couple out and see which you like.
