It's now his favorite time of the day to play his harmonica out on the deck with a beautiful view.

  • I would not buy this harmonic again

I bought this as an introduction to the chromatic harmonica. Out of the box the lowest note does not work. The high notes are squeaky.

I have one of these Silver Creek chromatics, bought from a 3rd party, not on this site. It was an open box store return. It's not really bad but maybe could be a little better in the tuning, it definitely has that "Chinese harmonica sound" but if you're used to that its okay. As a collector I know the difference. I think most all chroms are squeaky when new, they have to be played gently and worked with. This one has a weirdo reed in the bass register with the slide in, it has a Wolf-like off key vibe. Which is why it was a store return. Not bad enough for me to take it apart, it gives it personality (?) If you're looking for perfection, this ain't it. Buy a German harmonica.

  • Not a quality instrument.

I bought this as an inexpensive practice harmonica. It actually looks pretty nice, but right out of the box I had an issue with 3 draw windsaver flutter. I figured the two plastic flaps were just stuck together and needed to be separated (a common problem with chromatic harmonicas). When I took the harmonica apart several pieces broke off of the comb. most notably the channel holding the retaining nut for the mouthpiece. I have been playing harmonica for over 40 years and I have taken dozens of my other chromatic and non- chromatic harmonicas apart for minor repairs and I have NEVER had pieces just break off like that. I glued the pieces back in place and managed to get the harp back together but I have to say I am disappointed in the quality of this instrument.

Please note. This is NOT a pro-grade Chromatic. Silver Creek is a repackaging if several Chinese off brands. If you are looking to test the waters on Chromatic Harmonicas for a low price, this is alright. However, there are many issues that make this a short lived instrument. The quality as a whole is comparable to a children's toy. The buffers are made of foam just to give you an idea. There is a very good reason good chromatic Harmonicas are usually several hundred dollars. This could get you going for the first month, but after that, you're kinda stuck. The valves are very sticky, and the high notes are very squeaky and finicky.
