I bought these for connecting to my bass guitar amp. I play bass through an Ampeg PF500. I connect my phone to the input and connect these to the Headphone jack. They handle the bass and have really good sound. I have used them with my mixer and computer as well but they are primarily for my bass. They are comfortable and have never fallen off my head. They are great at blocking the outside noise.

I've tried out multiple headphones (up to $200), and I always come back to my 240A. I own a pair of 440's and Sony and even an expensive pair of Sennheiser's. I still keep wearing out the foam on the head band before I can wear out the real sounds from the Shure 240A.

Well, I really enjoyed these headphones at first. The sound quality is amazing. I only used them for when I was recording, mixing, etc. But, about a week after I got them, they get a short in the chord. They still worked, I just had too jiggle the end of the chord. Well the amount that I had to jiggle the chord steadily increased until now there's no getting them to work all the way. The Shure headphones that are $50 more than these have a detachable chord so you can buy a new one if it breaks instead of a whole new pair of headphones. Go figure, huh? I really like Shure products, and this hasn't turned me against the brand. I suggest that you buy the ones with the detachable chord if you have the money. Like I said, the sound quality was absolutely amazing. But if you don't have the money, you should probably go with a different brand.
