Fantastic legendary mic!
Using the SM7db for home recording, especially for vocals, but am also experimenting with instruments as well. Truly low noise even with the on board preamp engaged. Produces a very good vocal reproduction without coloration. Am trying using it without the preamp on with higher SPL's, and works well that way as well. Couldn't be easier to use, and hook up is a no brainer. Came with the mount set up for podcast type use with a boom, but I wanted it flipped, and again this was easily accomplished. Can't really attest to durability at this point, as I just got it, but it is built very solidly, and if it holds up even close to the Shure mics I have had (and still do have two SM58's) for over 25 years it'll be a winner in that category as well! I doubt I'll ever need two of them, but if I did need another mic for these types of applications, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another SM7db.

My home studio has quite a bit of ambient noise so I bought this mic thinking it would do well in my room but unfortunately that was not my experience. The mic was still picking up quite a bit of noise when I set the input gain to an appropriate level and the tone is not amazing for vocals. Overall not a bad mic, I can see why it's very popular but it wasn't for me. The built in preamp is a nice touch though.

I use the SM7dB for audio production, music, singing, and voiceovers, and it delivers exactly what I need. Having owned the previous version, I always found it challenging to get a strong signal without introducing some noise when using a Cloudlifter. The built-in preamp in this model solves that issue, providing a cleaner, louder signal right out of the box. It's much more convenient and cost-efficient, making my workflow smoother and my recordings sound even better. #sweepstakes

As per many other users, this mic was DOA. Turned the gain all the way up, tried different cables, settings, etc, and nothing. No sound. Just the hissing noise. Many others have had this same issue. I unfortunately had to return mine. It's very disappointing especially when you're ready to record.
