I recently upgraded all my drum mics, and it was a no-brainer for me to pick these for the kick drums. I've used darn near every kick mic I can think of over the years, and these just speak to me. Plus they really help keep the stage clutter to a minimum! IMO, they are the perfect blend of tone & attack. While I love them for every size bass drum, they're kind of a secret weapon when it comes to making little kick drums sound like big kick drums. If I have the luxury of getting to use two kick mics, my favorite combo uses this on the inside, with an Audix D6 on the mic hole. My 2 cents.

I recently landed a new gig, and the sound engineer for the band actually WANTS me to bring out my big sets! I've been looking for an excuse to upgrade all my mics, since my drum mic collection has been pretty stagnant since the mid 90's, I didn't need much of a push! Lol! So I got 4 of these, for ride, hihat, and stereo overheads, and I gotta say, they are spectacular! Crystal clear, sturdy as heck, and amazing headroom! We had to back them off a bunch in the mix, because they were way hotter than the old Sterling ones I was using. I've used way more expensive ones at shows & recording sessions, and these sound so good in comparison, I'd actually bad mad if I had dropped the coin on anything higher end. Absolutely the best mic-per-$ ratio on the market.

fromMcKinney TX.. I'm the guy you sent 3 JBl

Does it work well with a mandolin in a setting where some of the instruments are electric, guitar, bass, keys etc. Tried my Sm57 which should work like a champ, but sound guy thinks it would pick up other instruments plus cause some feed back. Do I need a supercardiod intead or a small condenser mic set up. Not drilling holes in my new 6K mandolin!
