I purchased this mic to replace an older Crate Hi-Z mic. It works as it should, well constructed, and came with case & cord. I use a Hi-Z mic occasionally and this one will fit the job perfectly.

Does this microphone need to be plugged into anything to be used? I would be using it for Karaoke at my home.
Yes, it does need to be plugged into something. The Shure PGA48-QTR is a dynamic microphone, which means: It doesn't require phantom power (good news—simpler setup). It still needs to be plugged into an amplifier, mixer, or powered speaker that accepts a 1/4" input (like a guitar cable jack). What's in the box? PGA48 Microphone XLR to 1/4" cable (this means one end plugs into the mic, the other into your sound system) Mic clip and stand adapter. What else you'll need: A powered speaker, PA system, or karaoke machine with a 1/4" mic input Example: JBL Eon One, Fender Passport, or even some guitar amps (not ideal for vocals, but they work in a pinch). Optional: A microphone stand. It doesn't plug directly into your phone, TV, or regular home stereo without an interface or mixer. It has no built-in speaker or battery, so it's not a standalone unit.submitted2 years ago
