An outstanding interface & DSP. Just buy 2 now!
I mean, the killer feature about this thing, of course, is its size. 1. It's impressively small. 2. It works off of whatever you plug it into for power. 3. It's got a monitoring capability. 4. It's got a built-in DSP with: a) Direct monitoring mixing (no latency) b) Input gain (duh!) c) 5 Band EQ d) High Pass Filter e) Limiter f) Compressor g) Phantom Power It's just incredible to have such a portable interface with you wherever you want to be. So you're never without an interface if you need one. With onboard processing (As feature rich as you'd want in something so portable and diminutive). And a nice trick I learned is it'll allow you to use an XLR to TRS ¼" adapter, so you can plug something like a synth into this thing. It'll take line level!* This makes its versatility over the top for the size. How can you not want a minimum of one of these for every computer or iPad you have (if you don't already have an interface connected to them)? Did i mention this little teeny mic audio interface has processing!!! Plus, in a world of no 1/8" headphone jacks, this can be your listening/monitoring solution on those devices. I even want a third one just to carry in my shoulder bag in case I want to open up AUM on my iPhone and work on something. It's not the highest quality sounding interface out there, but that consideration is kind of an irrelevant thing when the convenience of connecting to so many things, anywhere, without needing external power, and being able to create and produce on a whim is just a new fact in your life. And in reality it doesn't sound bad. Just buy 2 now! Get more later. Doesn't matter if you already have other interfaces. You don't have anything this useful and convenient and able to go with you without taking up any space you have to think about at all. If you create anything with audio, you should already have at least one of these. The one big negative about this interface is the necessity for a computer to change the settings in the DSP. This is absurd. I have 2 of these, so I can have them setup two different ways if I'm on the go. But to have their mobile app not be able to adjust the internal settings is totally unacceptable. I love these units so much that I'll leave it 5 stars for the hardware band what it's capable of. But the software for any mobile platform is not great. All the iPad music producers out there, the ones who would want a device this portable the most, are either forced to buy multiple units, carry a laptop, or just be stuck with whatever settings they saved it in the last time they were adjusted on their computer. *On iPad OS & iOS, to get the XLR to TRS ¼" adapter to work, I did have to use third party apps like AUM to get it working. And I believe you'll want to turn off Phantom Power as well. But in the next version of iPad OS & iOS, you should be able to do this more directly. Another reason why the software needs fixed Shure!

Good enough
This adapter is well-designed, nearly indestructible, and extremely convenient. It works with a smartphone, but this use is not officially supported; you need to connect to a Mac/Windows computer to adjust most settings. The noise floor could be a bit lower compared to other recorders, but to achieve this, you'd probably have to give up features (e.g. no mix/monitoring jack) since some noise comes from using a full-featured codec chip and the rest would come from electromagnetic interference. Electronic filtering would need a bigger adapter size to fit more components and allow heat to dissipate. For recording music, the auto gain is too aggressive. I also genuinely don't understand the point of a limiter toggle on such a device... Is someone purposely disabling it to get more distortion? Does activating the limiter clip the signal before the ADC, where it should? More gain would be great for ribbon/dynamic mics, but who is connecting a ribbon mic to an inline mono USB connection, anyway? All things considered, nobody is making a better inline XLR-to-USB adapter than Shure.

I needed a professtional quailty mic that didn't break the bank. Easy to set up and use. I also paired it with a MVX2U, which it performs very well with for my streaming needs. The sound is crsip and clear and the settings and functions allow for perfect adjustment and fine tuning to bring my voice forward with rich, mellow tones instead of the scratchiness I previously dealt with. I am impressed and would highly recommend this mic that was recommended to me by another beautiful sounding streamer. #sweepstakes
