Evolution Wireless Digital – EW-D & EW-DX Product Tour I Sennheiser

Evolution Wireless Digital Tutorials - Introduction & Unboxing | Sennheiser

EW-D Episode 1: Finally. Hassle-free Wireless | Sennheiser

It seems like, since the beginning of time, performers have been mercilessly tethered to the stage via an ever-constricting microphone cable. Fighting and clawing with a tangled mess confining them to the limits of their musical umbilical cord. Enter the Sennheiser Evolution Wireless Digital (EW-D) wireless microphone systems. With an astounding 134dB dynamic range, reliable and modern UHF performance, and Smart Assist Bluetooth setup, the EW-D family includes a powerful set of features that you can harness to take your show, performance or presentation wherever you please without restriction.

Jump Around
Go ahead, free yourself from the confines of cables and get moving with Sennheiser EW-D wireless systems. Whether you're searching for the perfect presentation microphone, or looking to take the show off of the stage and into the crowd, Sennheiser has the solution for you. These battery-powered systems are the ideal complement to a performance of any kind, with up to 12 hours of operation using Sennheiser's optional lithium-ion battery pack (sold separately). (As if eight hours using standard AA batteries wasn't enough.)

Bring Out the Best
Gone are the days of digital infidelity. We've come to trust and embrace digital audio for everything it's worth, and with that industry-wide shift has come a sense of freedom and flexibility that we previously never thought possible. Sennheiser's EW-D wireless microphone systems represent the best parts of cutting-edge digital technology you've come to expect from Sennheiser, and include the high-quality audio you are used to from using traditional analog methods. With a whopping 134dB of audio input dynamic range, Sennheiser has virtually eliminated the need for sensitive gain adjustments. This, coupled with superior 24-bit digital audio, ensures that you have clean and pristine sound quality no matter what the gig entails.

Putting the ULTRA in UHF
Make no mistake, the Sennheiser EW-D wireless system is in a class of its own. With an equidistant tuning grid previously only found in the flagship Digital 6000 and 9000 wireless systems, you can automatically secure the most reliable signal in a matter of seconds, and be up and running faster than you could ever do a traditional cable run to the front of the stage. Due to this easy-to-use equidistant tuning grid and quality components with exceptional linearity, Sennheiser has eliminated intermodulation between EW-D transmitters, allowing frequencies to be equally spaced every 600kHz alongside each other. This enables the system to be extremely reliable and capable of extremely high channel counts. This fully scalable system can be expanded up to 90 channels thanks to its 56MHz of tuning bandwidth.

Get Smart
Go boldly into the unknown with the help of the Sennheiser Smart Assist app. The power of Bluetooth Low Energy puts full control of your wireless devices right in the palm of your hand. Take advantage of this powerful tool for remarkably fast automated setup, and get mobile access to every system setting so that you can monitor and adjust everything you need to on the fly from the convenience of your Android or iOS device. This saves you time, energy and the headaches traditionally encountered while troubleshooting analog signal paths.
With careful forethought and detailed execution, Sennheiser EW-D digital wireless systems have been tailor made for the needs of modern presenters and performers of all types. These powerful and flexible live sound solutions come equipped with a high-quality feature set, and represent the very best in digital fidelity. Ditch the cables and find your freedom with Evolution Wireless digital systems.

This is actually a pretty good piece of hardware. I am a long time Sennheiser user and a big fan of their microphones however, the wired microphones. This was my first experience with their wireless, and it was pretty good but not the best experience I had. Great range, great sound but that really depended on the rest of the equipment as well, I.e. the mixers and speakers. Just keep in mind it's still a mid-level wireless system despite its higher price tag. I am used to using several different series of the Shure microphones, and this was definitely comparable however shure just released the slxd Plus which has virtually all of the same specs with some bonus specs that make it a bit more Superior than this unit. Again, not to say this is a bad unit but after playing several shows with it I discovered a few things. I wasn't wowed by the unit, the clarity and sound was very similar to the shure mics I had been using. I experienced a little feedback but nothing crazy. The range was amazing and didn't have any dropouts. I will say on a personal note I'm not a big fan of the color. While sitting in my rack it looked (as my wife put it) like an old 1980s vcr. To me it looks very outdated for something that was modern. I would recommend it if you're a big fan of their products but I'm a fan of both them Shure and I might just stick with the latter for now.

I own both the Shure SLXD24/SM58 and this System they are very comparable. I Love the sound on this it has an advanced Smart Assist App that allows you to : Sync with receiver, change frequency, name the device and assign a color as well as updates with your smartphone. It works on Android and Apple os. It is a hybrid system of Digital/Analog so no drop outs like the 2.4 GHZ systems when used outside. I would recommend this system to any singer or conference meeting presenter.

This Sennheiser unit comes with 1 handheld or 1 lavalier microphone. It's not clear to me whether you can add more microphones to 1 receiver or is it only 1 microphone per receiver?
One mic per receiver
