TUTORIAL: e 945 Vocal Dynamic Super-Cardioid Microphone | Sennheiser

Sennheiser - The Future of Audio

Description
The Sennheiser e945 supercardioid dynamic vocal microphone is tailored for working musicians who demand reliability and a naturally smooth sound. With its shockmounted capsule and tight supercardioid pickup pattern, the e945 offers excellent insulation from other onstage signals and low sensitivity to impact and handling noise.
Supercardioid Pattern Rejects Feedback and Isolates Your Voice
The e945's supercardioid polar pattern provides focused pickup of the sound source directly in front of the mic, rejecting unwanted noise from the sides and rear. This makes the e945 excellent at isolating your voice from other onstage sounds and avoiding feedback in high-volume situations. The polar pattern also helps reduce the "boomy" low-frequency effects that often result from close-miking, capturing a smooth, natural vocal tone.
Rugged Build Quality Withstands Rigors of Daily Use
The e945 is built to exacting standards from quality components, with a sturdy metal casing, steel mesh grille and gold-plated XLR connector. This solid construction makes the e945 ideal for rental use and ensures reliable operation even after extended periods of heavy use. With proper care and maintenance, this mic will provide years of flawless performance for vocalists and musicians.
Additional Features
The e945 also provides a linear frequency response for natural sound and high maximum SPL for use with loud vocalists and in high-volume applications. An included zippered pouch provides basic protection during storage and transport.

Suprise?
The Sennheiser E945 is a powerful microphone with great sound. I have used it in several shows, and hours and hours of practice, but it wasnۡt until I handed it to our female vocalist until I understood its true power. It sounds much better as a female vocal microphone. Donۡt get me wrong, this microphone is great for male vocals as well, but unless youۡre an Alto, I recommend saving some bills and grabbing the Sennheiser 845 or the SM58. Female singers should spring the dough for this microphone, as it is well worth it. I have used this microphone for in home recording too, and it does a great job with vocals (again BEST on female vocals). Sadly, it does not capture guitar tone very well, the sound gets an extra boost in the highs and adds extra noise to any distortion. This is not an all around mic, but I think it is the best vocal performance microphone on the market.

Good sound, bad paint job
I bought this in 2017 and the quality was amazing. In 2021 I bought a new one, same model, and in a couple of months the housing got all scratched. Clearly a bad quality painting job. Talked to customer service and they wanted me to jump through all hoops to replace it. I think they should have been more helpful and less bureaucratic. Sounds good, but the quality of the housing dropped a lot from 2017 to 2021. In the photo the 2017 one is on the left and the 2021 one on the right!

This mic rejects everything that isn't directly right on the grille and cuts through the mix, well. Great mic.

Do you need wireless system to connect this to?
This is not a wireless microphone. This is a wired microphone and would require a microphone cable to connect to your audio source.
