Play for my own environment. This is my second Seagull guitar. They are the best value for the money in my opinion for an acoustic electric.

    • Just a fantastick instrument

I just bought my Seagull GT-Q1 acoustic guitar (Black One ) at G.C two days ago. I just can't put this guitar down. I have been playing acoustic for twenty years with plenty of Mid price Martins under my belt. This Seagull has the Martins beat. It is so comfortable and easy to finger chords and notes ,because of the smooth slender neck. I did change the strings , I put on Martin #12 Phosphorus Bronze and this guitar just leaped out with great sound both unplugged and through an amp. Try one of these and I bet you will purchase it. • I enjoy this at least as much as the Martins I played, and it's half the price

These Entourage models are a super value, but I'm not saying they play like some value-model. I enjoyed playing the Seagulls at least as much as the Martins I played, and in fact I think the neck was a little more comfortable for my hands. I think it sounds especially sweet plugged in.. but that may just be the slight dissociation of hearing it through a speaker vs up against your body (kind of like hearing yourself through a microphone). Anyway, the pickup sounds really nice, really nice woody tone. And the built in tuner is super convenient. I wish that it would time out and turn itself off automatically, however despite my kids' fascination with turning it on and leaving it on, the original battery is still working fine after a month. I got mine with the burgundy finish and it's so pretty, but I have to say, the rustic model that was at the store exposed the cherry back/sides color which was so lovely. Mine's just burgundy all over. So I named her Mindy, which sort of rhymes with burgundy. Honestly I think the cherry was more pretty than the mahogany on the Maritime models. Very good-looking wood! I noticed little difference between this and the more expensive Maritime models, although I couldn't put my finger on it, I thought the Maritime sounded just a shade nicer. Maybe it's the mahogany. I was told that cherry tends to break in over time and sound just as good. Time will tell on that but this is the nicest guitar I've ever had. Love it! Sounds great with John Pearce strings and they were a little heavier than the factory strings, but a small twist of the truss rod had the neck straight as an arrow again. Thanks to both the Michaels at Guitar Center Seattle!

I purchased this guitar after reading all of the glowing reviews on this site and others. I also watched all of the videos on YouTube. I'll be honest, I am a neophyte (newbie) guitar player so I don't know that much about them. So take this review with a grain of salt but I know there are other newbies out there trying to make a decision so I hope this review helps them. I went to guitar center and tried out this guitar as well as the Yamaha 730gtx and others. Since I am new, I asked some other folks there, employees and customers, to play many different guitars. They did so willingly and were very happy to help out. To be honest all of the guitars sounded really nice, but the Seagull was a bit warmer to my old ears while the Yamaha was a bit brighter. My goal is to bum around and learn a few chords and maybe some finger picking of old folk music so I liked the warmer sound of the Seagull. And with all of the great reviews, I figured it was a sure bet. I like fine furniture, so the satin/matte finish of the Seagull Rustic guitars (hello McFly! Rustic!) didn't really turn me on. It is really nicely done mind you, but my taste is for a glossy finish. So I opted for the GT (Gloss Top) in the burgundy. After opening the box, I am very very very pleased with my decision. They aren't kidding when they say "Gloss Top!" The burgundy high gloss top is simply beautiful! It looks like a fine piece of cherry furniture you would buy for your formal dining room - absolutely gorgeous! I don't regret my decision at all. Same for the headstock, it is just as beautiful and makes for one nice looking guitar. Mine shipped from Kansas. I ordered it on Memorial day and had it shipped to the Katy, TX. store. The tracking was smooth and always accurate, I received an email when it shipped and when it arrived. I went to pick it up and when the GC associate looked up my order he said, "Seagull! What a great choice. That is a fine guitar." When we opened the box in the store, all of the associates in the area had the same reaction, "Wow! That is really nice." The entire purchase process was very smooth. The GC associate who helped me was very helpful and empathetic to my ignorance - my words, not his. He answered my questions and help me pick out a case, strap, winder, and capo. I had read that the silk-n-steel strings are really nice and easy on the fingers. The associate said, "You really don't need them with this guitar," but he helped me pick them out none-the-less. He looked at the setup for me and after playing it said, "This guitar needs nothing! It plays perfectly." I'll admit, it sounded really nice when he played it, although I can't get the same sounds out of it that he did. After plunking around on it, I will say that it seems to play really easily for me to. The sound is beautiful to me. It is deep and rich with the mellow sound I like to hear when listening to guitar music. The bass is really sound and sustains well. It sounds really good plugged in also. I don't like real bright sounding guitars so this one suites my taste just fine. I look forward to learning to play it well. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and with the service that GC and their associates gave me. The memorial day discount, free shipping, and great service provided me with a very nice guitar, case, and accessories for under $700. The guitar, to be honest with you, sounds as good to me as the $1500 guitars. But again, I am a neophyte. I am sure there must be differences between this and $1,500+ guitar but it was hard for me to hear them. This guitar is very highly recommended to newbies, beginners, and intermediate players. Those advanced players don't need these reviews anyway. But I understand a lot of pros and advanced players play Seagull guitars. I think if you try this guitar out, you will be very happy with it.

I bought this guitar online from GC in Nov. 2012. It was near perfect right out of the box. However, the strings that came on my guitar were dead sounding. I tried a few sets of strings and so far the 80/20 bronze type compliment the cedar top better than the phos-bronze and really make the guitar come alive. The guitar has an incredible, rich sound. The action is good and the neck is comfortable. The electronics are decent but you have to really be mindful of the tuner power button when putting the guitar in the case. It is very easy to turn on by accident. The tuner works well and the guitar stays in tune. This is a very beautiful, well made guitar. It rivals others that cost hundreds of dollars more. I love mine.

I've had this guitar for a year now and I love it just as much as the first time I played it. I liked it much more than the Martin in the same price range and I really like the sound of a Martin. I still can't believe the quality for the price. Solid wood, the sound is super rich and warm and projects more than expected. Sounds great for any style I play and even plugged in. HIGHLY recommend this guitar. People constantly say she's beautiful and talk about how nice the sound is.
