Description

The Schecter PT Special delivers top-shelf vintage flavor with a growling tone in a T styled guitar.  Built from a solid piece of swamp ash with an open grained pearl finish, the PT Special has a tone that’s warm and bright with a lasting sustain. Outfitted with a Schecter Diamond VT-1 and V-90 pickups with a coil split option, this Schecter Special offers a vintage-tinged combination of clarity, twang and strength with the ability to toggle between series and parallel wiring for added versatility. A hard rock maple neck, rosewood fretboard, vintage “C” neck shape and jumbo frets make this guitar is a blend of comfort and playability.

    When I decided I wanted an electric guitar this is what I had decided I wanted. Thanks to things being out of stock or me not having the cash when it came back in stock it took a little over two years before I could make it mine. It was worth the wait.

    Looks great. The finish is awesome. The contoured cutaway lets you go for that 'mother of all E' bend up there at 22 without a problem. Bridge pickup sounds good. Neck pickup sounds decent. The series/parallel thing is useless. Series tones suck and the control knob is wonky, noisy and has a lot of play in it. Action wants to ride high and I couldn't get it adjusted to a level where a guitar with a 12" radius and 'super jumbo' frets should play. Buzzed out bad bending at 10, 11, 12, 13. Neck was straight. Probably needed a shim, but part of the selling point is that it's "set up to play" out of the box, meaning I shouldn't have to spend $50-$100 on a pro setup. My $150 Squier tele played better out of the box. I wanted to love it, but it just failed to amaze me.

    A great guitar cant believe how cheap it was. great feel out of the box a little fret buzz but an intonation fixed that right up.Plays like a dream and is beautiful!!!!

    I am sure it is a great guitar. I am having issues with the switches. Bad connections or bad wiring.

    I bought the purple burst PT Special at the end of 2020. I love this guitar! I have been playing for over 30 years and own(ed) several Fenders, Gibsons, and Schecters. I have always loved tele style guitars and this one is the perfect guitar for me. Unlike most tele style guitars, you get a very nice belly, forearm, and joint cut. This guitar is as comfortable as a strat but you get the sound of a beefy tele :) And the price point! That is hard to beat. The pickups, intonation, fit and finish were all great right out of the box. I really didn't need to do anything to this guitar other than tune it. Now, my only gripe is the pots. There is not much variation when turning them up and down. It's as if all of the tone and volume is within 3mm or so of a turn. That aside though, I would definitely buy this guitar again and am seriously considering buying the aquaburst ASAP!

    Any issues with the ashtray bridge over the regular bridge tele bridge?

    I’m very sorry. Your question is not clear. This isn't a Tele bridge. A Fender Ashtray cover, over a Schecter design, would need to be tested.
