Picked this up because I am a beginner and did not have a big budget. I also did not want the cheapest out there either. You of course can find cheaper but this one is well made for the price range. I played others in 4 different stores and this one was the one that seemed better made and solid. Of course I am a newbie the Banjo coming from woodwinds and Piano.
Should have went to Guitar Center first!

I bought 2 used banjos on EBay. 1 broke 3 strings and a foot plate trying to tune it. The other one didn't sound very good and was hard to play. As a beginner starting to learn to play at 72 with Parkinson's disease was going to be a challenge so I went to Guitar works and fell in love with this banjo. It sounds great, and is alot easier to tune and play. It looks like a very high quality banjo at a very modest price. I was going to buy a more expensive banjo but seeing and hearing this I went home with this at less than half the price. The staff was friendly and helpful and couldn't be happier with my new banjo. Now the challenge of learning to play it.

I'm quite impressed. High quality construction, great sound. I love this banjo. It's my first one so I don't have much to compare it to, but I've played some cheaper ones that don't sound nearly as good.
