Great Idea, Poor Execution

This is a great concept and I thought it would be one case to take the place of three but I was wrong. First and foremost, there is NO ROOM FOR YOUR HARDWARE! There is a tiny bin/tray on top that should be used for sticks, the top of the hi-hat stand or maybe the top of a cymbal stand but that's about it. This small top tray is the only place with enough room for an actual heavy duty stand but only one or two will fit inside the case there is a nice 'felted' side for the snare but no room for the seat of the throne ( I have a big bike seat throne almost as big as my snare drum). The main compartment is divided in two for snare & hardware but the bin for hardware is way too small. The only way your hardware will fit is if you use tiny light duty stands and you compress them to the smallest configuration or take them all apart into 3 small pieces; not a great way to go if you're playing gigs as it will increrase set up time and you have to adjust every stand every time. The distance between where the tray sits in the case to the bottom of the case is way too short for any of my stands especially the hi-hat stand which can't be taken apart or shrunk down at all. Lastly, the side cymbal compartment just flops to the floor ans isn't tilted at an angle like the pics show. It falls to the ground and there is no 'latch' to hold it up in place. There are two rubber knobs that just get pushed into the side of the case. if you bump the case before you put the lid on, the cymbal case will fall right out and slam to the ground. I returned it after one day but I'm sure that after a few months of gigging those rubber knobs would hold up at all. Super dissapointed after the good reviews I read but this case is unusable if you have heavy duty hardware and the cymbal case was lacking real protection for the cymbals.

Perfect trap case for hitting the road, if you have a back line for your drums.Even if you have local gigs, it really cuts down on the amount of stuff to load! This awesome case holds my double bass pedals, 6 cymbals (and 2 splashes), a snare drum, stick bag, even more room for some merch, or ???. Rugged and sturdy! 3 minor points, which I was able to fix: 1. I needed to get 3 more cymbal pads, which I purchased from the SKB online store. 4 pads come with the case. 2. The post that holds the cymbals needed the plastic sleeve around the post to be a bit longer to protect the cymbals. SKB sent me some plastic tubing which I cut to fit. 3. The post does not come with a hex nut of some type to secure the cymbals down. SKB said they do not have one, which seems like a minor oversight. No worries, went to the hardware store and picked up a hex nut. Just be sure to get the right size. I think it was 5/16, or I also bought an 8mm hex nut in case it was metric. Can't remember which one worked, cause they look the same, but at .09 per nut, no big deal to get both. This case rocks!
Amazing Case

I bought the SKB trap-x2 for flying with my snare, kick pedal and cymbals. The case has handled each trip extremely well, I couldn't be happier with it. SKB Customer Service is amazing as well. One caster was bent during baggage handling and SKB sent me a new caster the next day for free. The one downside is the case is a bit heavy.

The SKB Trap-X2 Roto-X is bullet proof. It was delivered on time and all I needed to do was install the 4 caster wheels and off I went. There is so much room in this case, I'm saving to buy more "percussion stuff". Gotta have more cow bell? With the space this case offers, you have room for the cow too! If you want professional protection, this is the case. The cymbal vault offers padded protection for my cymbals. I have SKB's for all my Pearls now. It's the best.
