I do not personally own this cymbal, but it is found in our steel drum band's kit. I have played on it before, and always have had the pleasure to hear it whenever I'm playing the pans. Let me just clarify on one thing -- though one might believe steel drum music cannot become intense, we actively seek to shatter that misconception. Let me just say that this ride has been through some brutal playing in the past four years, and you would not believe it as the sound remains superb! As of right now, the bell sound is cutting, decays quickly, and does not heavily cause the rest of the cymbal to ring. I am always fascinated by the wash -- it is distinctly mellow, short-medium to medium sustain, but it can build up if need be. Drummers in the past -- myself included -- love to crash on this beauty. Lasting impression? It was made to last, it will sound great over time, and you will get your money's worth for this wonderful cymbal. Buy it with confidence.
Very Nice Ride

I had been looking for a ride for quite awhile. I took my time in researching this as it would be the most expensive cymbal that I would have to purchase other than Hi-hats. I looked at Zildjian's Ping, Rock, Sweet and Megabell rides. To me, the Zildjians all sounded too "gongy". I had a salesman steer me toward the Paragon, of which I was rather reluctant to check out as I have never been a huge fan of products made by, or endorsed by celebraties. But after checking the 22" Paragon ride out, that... was it. You can get a variaty of sounds out of this monster. I love the bell. when I ride on the bell, I like to turn my stick around and beat that sucker with the heavy end of the stick and that thing just sings. depending on where you ride the rest of the cymbal will determine what sound you get out of it. The one thing I am not too happy with is that the closer to the edge you get on it the more "wash" or "over tones" you get with it. I don't really care for that too much. But over all it is by far the best cymbal that I have heard as far as rides go. The Bell doesn't sound "Gongy" at all. definately recommend
