This was the perfect crash for me - exactly what I was looking for! Very dark and complex sound with a quick decay. Fits nicely with my other HH and HHX cymbals!

I play technical progressive death metal. I own the 20" HHXtreme crash, and it's perfect for those accented heavy riffs, not the greatest to ride on though, only for slow metal slam parts in leu of a China. but for a consistent crash to ride on might want to use a 17" AAXtreme for that, the 17" AAXtreme sounds pretty sick-will be my next purchase for sure, the HHXtreme is good but it lasks the shimmery brilliant that I love in the AAX line. But as far as how it sounds, it's really quick, and has sort of a trashy(ish) tone as well, which is great! I don't prefer to have a large crash that lingers for too long-it overpowers everything; this puppy is dark, great for slam or doomy sounding parts, the bell is unusually very very bright and I use it rarely, but it's nice and loud for accent hits, I could imagine this crash being great for jazz and worship and even blues and rock, for death metal, it's the bees knees... and so many drummers envy me for having it, thanks GC for having this on promo sale for only 159!! because originally it was almost 400. quick tip, always visit the store and look at used cymbals and stuff that they might have promos for you might get lucky, thats how i've gotten 6 of my 12 cymbals lol.

Iۡve read many positive reviews on these cymbals; some have different opinions describing the sound. Obviously the best option for sound would be to actually play & hear these cymbals, however some of us donۡt have that opportunity. Instead we rely on reviews, youtube, etcۡ_and basically take a chance. One review I read described the sound of these cymbals more like a Chinese cymbal, and others have stated the sound is more like a crash cymbal. We all know every drummerۡs ۡ̏earۡݕ_ & opinion is different, howeverۡ_ I think the HHXtreme have the characteristics of both a Chinese & a crash cymbal, which others have also stated. But... a cymbal that speaks with itۡs own unique voice. I own the 19-inch HHXtreme crashۡ_amazing! I couldnۡt agree more with SABIANۡs description, ۡ̏...crash explosion with the raw attack of a Chinese cymbalۡݕ_. The cymbal responds fast with decay, creatively, and straight to the point. Also, I wanted to addۡ_about half of the hammering on these cymbals is inverted. That combined with ۡ̏modernۡݕ_ lathing makes for a very unique & explosive crash cymbal. Nowۡ_I ۡd understand if someone thought, ۡ̏Great cymbal, but it doesnۡt fit my set-upۡݕ_, itۡs not for everyone. I use my cymbal as an alternative or effects crash, others use it as a main crash. The HHXtreme are very unique cymbals that could fit with any music genre.
