When tested at store on its own, I wasn't real sure I'd made a good choice. But when I got it home to play it in the mix with my main kit I was very pleased indeed! I've had a 16" crash from this series for a couple of years, and felt that it worked well in small-group jazz, and theater musicals I often play for. This was why I was seeking another crash from that series. I was discouraged when told the line had been a kind of test-market thing that Sabian decided there was insufficient interest so had discontinued it. I was told that this cymbal (the new 18") was the last one available from GC stock, at least in our area. I'm not a hard-hitter, and have been looking for cymbals that don't scare my bandmates, or my audience, if I hit them at more than a medium dynamic level. The AAX Recording Series had a nice round crash that disapated pretty quickly. If this line was absorbed into another series from Sabian I'd like to know about it. I wouldn't mind a pair of hi-hats or maybe even a Ride!
