Roland
Description

The Roland TD-27KV-S V-Drums kit redefines electronic drumming with digital sensor technology and over 700 sampled instruments. This full-featured set is equipped for any genre and playing style. The TD-27 sound module provides 75 preset kits, including 10 all-new kits, allowing for a personalized sound via deep editing capabilities. Upload your own WAV samples through the SD card input for custom tones.

Realistic, Expressive Pads

The TD-27KV-S features professional-grade pads for authentic feel and response, including a 14" snare, 18" ride, and kick pad compatible with real bass drum pedals. The snare and ride pads utilize multi-sensor arrays to detect strike position and force for nuanced expression.

Massive Sound Library

The TD-27 sound module is loaded with a professional sample library for realistic emulation of acoustic drums. Spacious on-board editing options allow for modifying kit components including drums, cymbals, and percussion. Effects such as reverb, delay, and compression can be applied to achieve your ideal drum tone.

Road-Ready Stand

The included MDS-STD2 stand provides a stable setup for live performance or recording situations. Durable steel construction keeps the TD-27KV-S securely in place during extended playing periods. Folds flat for compact storage and transport between gigs.

Highly Configurable

With the TD-27KV-S, musicians have significant flexibility in configuring their ideal electronic drum set. The kit includes two tom pads, but additional pads can be added to expand the set. The TD-27 sound module accommodates up to 13 pads total for a customized pad configuration. The module also features 10 user kits in addition to the 75 preset kits, providing space for crafting custom drum and cymbal sets tailored to your playing needs.

The kit is not working with my mixing board and continually cuts off at low volume. I want to return it.

It was a budget toss up between this and the TD-50. Since I use BFD VST to record, I don't need the TD-50. If I want to play out, I'll put some kits together on a memory card. Remember when we had acoustic kits and only had "one set" for the gig? The digital ride and snare surpass what I had with the TD-20. I didn't think that I'd like the new hi-hat, but I been playing on it out of the box and is more sensitive and easier to use than the v-hi hat on the TD-20.

  • Just OK, but maybe all electronic sets are just OK.

First thing you must do if you play DBL Kick Pedals is purchase two Gibraltar 30" curved pipes to replace the cages side pipes in the set. The existing are too short to have the required room for the DBL kick pedal and the HH Stand. I actually got 36" so I have room to add another floor tom pad. The Gibraltar pipes are chrome, but so are the drum pad sides, so it actually looks pretty cool. The existing cage is just too small in general so it doesn't feel like your playing a real kit. And The longer pipes also make the set more stable. And they are pretty cheap $24. Like all the other reviews say, the kick pad is week. It moves all over the place when playing DBL kicks. And the pad gets super dented after the fist time you play it. I haven't tried recording yet, so I am not sure how that is effecting the triggering. I will update later. The HH Pad just doesn't feel right. I have tried adjusting everything, but it doesn't feel or sound right. Maybe I'll get used to it, I hope so. The small diameter of the "cymbal" puts the hats further away from you than normal. And you can't pull it closer or the HH pedal doesn't stay inline with the left kick pedal. It doesn't seem like the opening and closing sounds right, again I will have to wait until I can record something to see. I will update later. The Cymbals could be bigger, but I hope I'll get used to them. The edge grab to choke the cymbal seems a little hard to squeeze. They probably should have made that area bigger. I probably should have got the TD-50KV, but at $8,000 I couldn't find a place that had one to test drive, so I didn't want to risk it. If it feels like this set, I am glad I didn't. At this point in time, I can't imagine I will be able to use this for recording. But hopefully I am wrong and figure it out. It will probably be an OK practice set if you can't play real drums where you practice because on noise limitations (like myself).

For Christmas my wife bought me an Alesis Mesh drum-kit to replace the traditional acoustic drum-set that I had to pack up once we had our kids. After visiting Guitar Center, I returned the Alesis and moved up to the TD-17. About a week after getting the TD-17, Roland announced the TD-27, so once again I had to go back to Guitar Center and upgrade. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. It is certainly more expensive and more of a kit that someone would need as a beginning drummer- but for me it is right in the sweet spot of being a high-quality great sounding drum set that I can grow into without having to look to replace it in a couple of years as my skills grow. As everyone has stated- the digital snare and ride are excellent. The rest of the drums are also very sturdy and responsive and able to provide a great sound through the TD-27 brain. I also enjoy the blue-tooth connectivity option as well as the Micro-SD card which allows me to either import sounds or save\export sounds to\from the kit.

Very good quality but the design of bass drum is lacking. It's too light, flops around during double bass hits and already has small dents after just 2 hours of play time.
