While designed to plug a dynamic mic straight into a computer, it also can be patched to an output of an audio console. The only thing I had to change on my laptop was the quality attribute from 'shared' to '24 bit' as under 'shared' it was distorted. A small LED indicates if you're connected. 10 foot cable is plenty of length. Sound quality is clean. Perfect for Zoom meetings and similar online meeting programs. No need to install drivers. Great adapter for the price.

Can this be used to connect an analog pre amp to a computer? If so would there be any more latency than using an interface?

    1) Yes, it can. 2) There wouldn't be any more.

I'm trying to connect an old 5-prong analog XLR mike to my computer -- will this do the job?
