Good considering the price...

By fingerpicker

Comments about Rockman Guitar Ace Headphone Amp:

For the money, this is a good headphone amplifier unit. The headphones that come with the unit are lousy. Replace them with good headphones and you will be set for rockin' out. The distortion effect is great on heavy setting but is almost not noticable on semi setting. I do not get the "Boston" sound from the unit like the old Scholz model from the early 80s but considering the cost, it is a great little practice amp. The construction of the amp box is solid and lightweight. Some people complain about the hiss but once I replced the headphone with a middle grade set that I already owned, the hiss is mostly gone. Keep in mind the price of the unit and you will be satisfied with it...

Leave You Wishing for More

Comments about Rockman Guitar Ace Headphone Amp:

Great idea, but wish there were something between "clean" and "semi-distort". Also, not enough of a difference between "semi" and "distort". One is "dirty" and the other is "filthy". I wish there were a nice warm "fat" in there somewhere. Think of a stream of warm milk. You can't dial up that tone here. However, nothing to prevent you from using your other effects between the guitar and the Rockman. Very convenient and still a good buy. If they tweek it, it will cost 100 beans.

The Rockman Guitar Ace still has a great sound

By Robert Carleton

from Berkeley CA

Comments about Rockman Guitar Ace Headphone Amp:

I bought a Dunlop Rockman Guitar Ace to complement my old SR&D Guitar Ace. The only significant physical changes are the Dunlop sticker on the back and the choice of input jack hardware on the control panel. The Dunlop Rockman lacks the SR&D logo on the front of the body. To me, the SR&D and Dunlop products sound alike, in clean and distorted modes. It appears that Dunlop has succeeded in continuing the tradition that Tom Scholz started. The settings are limited, but I think the Guitar Ace still has a great sound when used with decent headphones. It would be nice to see Dunlop re-release some of the more sophisticated Rockman products, such as the X100 or the Soloist.

Rockman 1987 vs Rockman 2017

By Michael

Comments about Rockman Guitar Ace Headphone Amp:

I had one in the 80's, this 2017 product is not near as nice as they used to be. But I still like it, I would not use this one in the studio like I did my old one back in the 80's.

Comments about Rockman Guitar Ace Headphone Amp:

This is one of the best pieces of gear that I have bought. You can practice all day and all night without disturbing anyone! This little device gives a great "Boston" sound. Add a little reverb and some delay and you have as close to Tom Scholz' sound as I've heard. This is an excellent purchase at a very reasonable price! You cannot go wrong buying this device.
