Nice Case -- Flat Headstocks Only

Always check proper fitment! I received this case for Christmas, accompanying an Ibanez RG7420 which had to be special ordered and shipped to the store. When my family picked them up from the store, they were given the guitar and case in their requisite shipping packaging. Only once home, did we find that the guitar does not fit. There is not enough depth in the case to allow for the angled headstock. The tuner closest to the tip digs into the bottom of the case, and the neck is still a quarter inch away from resting in the case as it should. Upon visiting the Guitar Center closer to my home, and comparing the same model guitar in the more common color, it wouldn't fit any of the cases they had in store, and apparently I will need to order the proprietary case direct from Ibanez. This is still a nice case, and I plan on finding a nice 6 string with a flat headstock, or perhaps just one that is not as long. If the tuners were arranged side-by-side, it might work even with an angled headstock... I am disappointed that the Guitar Center site and personnel are not aware of any fitment issue regarding these crucial dimensions for proper protection. This case was recommended and purchased with this guitar specifically, as a gift, and I am now on a rabbit chase to find a case that will actually fit.

Fine for storing a guitar in your house, not great for gigging

I bought this case from Guitar Center in Orange, CT, in a moment of atypical, ill-advised cheapness on my part. This is one of, if not the very cheapest hard shell-type guitar case that you can buy from a big box store like Guitar Center. It's the cheapest for a reason. This case is more of a hybrid between a gig bag and a hard shell case. The outer shell isn't like more high-quality and costly cases. It has more of a rigid rubber feel than a true hard-shell case. I'm not exceptionally hard on my gear while taking them out to shows. In fact, I'm quite cautious. But so far, I've brought this case out twice for gigs, and the outside has gotten very banged up. Just from two light gig outings, there are gouges in the shell of the case. As a result, I would not recommend this case for gigging. However, this case is fine if you like to keep your guitars in hard-shell cases in our house and have no plans on transporting them many times over. The handle latches are fine quality, the lining is soft and protective, and the accessories compartment is very large (a big plus!). The universal-style nature of the case is also appealing. I had no problem fitting a Tele, Strat, and Mustang, but it was a slightly tight fit on my Jaguar, due to the oversized body on it. Should fit an SG, and other comparably-sized electric guitars just fine. Bottom line: This case is fine for your storing your guitar in your house, but think twice about taking it out on the road.

I've purchased three of these cases so far. One for my strat, and one each for my two Ibanez's. They hold each guitar well and are sturdy enough to provide the protection they each need. More than adequate, especially for the affordable price.

Not the most resilient case out there, but good enough for short haul trips in the trunk of a car. I wouldn't be too rough with it or throw it in with a ton of other gear, as the material has some give and would not take well to being tossed/banged around, but an obvious upgrade from a gig bag. Worth what you pay for it.
