Restock Raven RG100 Guitar Combo Amplifier

I bought this amp in March 2010 to play small shows with my band for a while. It put out great sound for the price, beating out my other guitarists amp like it was getting paid. But after two shows I noticed the sound getting extremely muffled. I ignored it, insisting that I was hearing things. Then a few weeks later while practicing it would randomly become clear and then get muffled again, and this kept getting worse. About a month or so after this started, the amp began to cut out completely whenever it pleased. No, this was not the cord, I'm positive. Now the amp is completely useless and will be returning it.

After being a drummer for 20+ years, I decided to start playing more guitar. I bought a Mashburn Guitar/Amp combo and loved the guitar but hated the TINY amp. I got this and have been completely wowed since I got it. It has a great clean channel and the lead channel is awesome as well. The gain control gives the perfect distortion sound for those rockin riffs. Great amplifier and VERY loud.

I bought one of these less than a year ago because it had a good price for a 100 watt amp. The more I played through it, the less I liked it. If you turn it up more than half way the sound goes all bad and it makes this horrible "whomp whomp" sound. The built in distortion on the lead channel is weak as water. If you have some good effect pedals, you can get a pretty decent sound out of it though. The clean channel is very clear. I rarely ever play guitar clean, so that wasn't much use to me. The EQ knobs on it are kind of a joke. They don't really help at all. I actually leave them turned all the way down and just EQ my effect pedals until it sounds somewhat decent. The built in tuner is pretty cool, seems to work ok. The reverb is all right as well. It's fairly well constructed, not too heavy. I like the metal grate over the speakers. It's not too bad if you're just using it to practice and you like playing clean guitar. I ended up buying a Peavey Valveking 100 watt tube amp and the difference is phenomenal. I have been trying to sell my Raven amp ever since I got the Peavey.

I wrote a review on the Raven RG100 in June and said I was going to upgrade it with a pair of English made Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. Well those English made Celestion Vintage 30's I put in were almost new with only one hour of time on them. I have put close to 30 more hours on them getting them to settle in and I can say that the tone and punch with the Celestions in has made all the difference in the world. The amp still screams, but with a new voice, and the sustain is better with much more presence than with the original Raven speakers. I don't even have to use my distortion or fuzz boxes much any more unless I want more out of the amp. I'll put my Celestion loaded Raven RG100 up against any 100 watt combo amp out there now.

this amp is sick, the mids are great and the highs are insane, its great for any kinda metal, and has a really good stingy clean sound, i recommend this to everyone! and its also a great jamming amp for a band member, goes great with any dean guitars, and emgs are a must!

I bought this amp because I wanted more power. And wow, does it ever deliver. This thing is so loud, it can be heard a block away. The tone is okay. It doesn't have much bass to it, so you'll have to make the EQ just right. I would just avoid using the gain altogether because it has a dreadful hissing noise when it's on. I just use a distortion pedal and that works great. Also, don't use the tuner. Mine was telling me everything was a half step higher than it needed to be, but after using many other tuners, I found it to be incorrect. Other than those few items that are wrong with it, this is a great amp!
