Remo Roto Toms Demo

Description
Remo's Rototom 3-Piece Set provides drummers with the distinctive tuned-tom tone popularized by legendary drummers in the '80s. This set includes 6", 8" and 10" sizes ideal for melodic fills and experimentation. Each aluminum-framed tom has a range of over one octave and is easily tuned by spinning the frame. Mounted on a single stand, the toms can be tuned to different intervals for incredible percussive colors. The shell-less design also allows for wild pitch slides and vibrato when spun while playing.
Instant Tuning Unlocks Sonic Versatility
Remo's rapid-tuning system provides sonic versatility unlike any other drum. The implied shell facilitates tuning over one octave so drummers can quickly change pitches for melodic fills or tune each tom to a different note. A convenient locking lever secures the toms to Remo RotoTracs or adapters for stable performance.
Heavy-Duty Components Built to Last
Remo constructs these rototoms to withstand the demands of performance and practice. A super-heavy plated counterhoop and tension rod enable full-octave tuning, while the double-braced stand provides a stable platform. The aluminum frame and components are durable yet lightweight, so drummers can easily transport and position the toms.
Classic Black Powder Coat Finish
The rototoms feature Remo's iconic black powder-coat finish for a classic appearance. Combined with the Pinstripe drumheads, the rototoms have a distinctive look that complements any drum kit.
Legendary Tone and Playability
Drummers worldwide have relied on Remo rototoms for decades. Artists like Billy Cobham, Bill Bruford and Steve Smith have used rototoms for their innovative sound and tuning. Schools also frequently use rototoms for their tuning versatility and playability.

Great Addition for a Rock Kit!
The Remo Roto Toms are a great addition for a person who wants to achieve a greater sound variety on their kit. I purchased these to be able to have a higher range of toms. This is a great addition especially for a person who likes to play Rush. Although these toms are not like Neil Peart's small toms, they pack a great sound, and a sound quite similiar. I think any intermediate- advanced drummer should definetly have these toms.

They're alright
These are definitely great for jazz work and light rock. They're fun to play around with, [Like 16th notes while tuning the drum down at the same time ;)], and definitely a harder drum to tune. The heads are near impossible to find (Still looking for them) and you'll have problems with the stand. (I ended up having to screw a long screw into a part of the stand to keep the mounting bar o stay in one place). They're definitely becoming less popular and less sought after, so I could definitely see myself moving to octobans or deccabons since those seem to be sprouting up instead of diminishing. If you REALLY want roto toms, its probably a good idea to find and buy a set of new heads for future use before hand ;)

I've loved Rototoms for 40 years, since I first heard Bill Bruford playing a whole set of them. I had the crazy idea of adding these to a Roland V-drums kit for recording, but wasn't sure if the rototom mics would pick up the unwanted mechanical noise of the V-drums. Turns out 57's have enough off-axis rejection, and you can always just edit the rototom tracks and cut out the space between rototom notes. I have not found the same problem other reviewers have mentioned, about the square plate not tightening the drums enough - it might not be tight enough to have kids climb on them, but it's plenty tight enough to hold drums while you play them! Bottom line: I still love Rototoms, and I'm glad I bought them!
Awesome addition !!

I played on a (long term) borrowed set of these in the mid 1980's, and I Loved them !! I would have given 5 stars, but the mount has been changed & required some "tweeking". The tension rod was not holding the adaptor plate & Rototrac tight, allowing Rototrac to move & come loose. However adding a couple of Lock Washers to the tension rod alleviated that problem. Other than that, stand is heavy duty, sound is awesome, & I Love them. Great addition to add variety to your fills !!
great purchase for the price.

very happy with the sound and the sturdy stand it came with but its a little hard to get all three drums perfect in the slide bar. regarding the small drum key nut i had to use loctite on it so it had less wiggle in the slide bar.

New to the drums and wanted to expand my kit. The stand isn't as sturdy as I had hoped, particularly the spot where the arm connects to the stand -- it relies on effectively a single, relatively small screw.
