Recording King

Description

The Recording King limited-run RM-993 Black Nickel Parlor Resonator puts traditional reso style into a smallbody design that packs a punch. True resonator tone begins with a classic, nickel-plated bell brass body and Recording King’s own full-size hand-spun 9.5" cone. The limited-run RM-993 has a sleek black nickel finish, upgrading the cool factor on one of Recording King’s best-selling guitars.

Thanks to the smaller body size and 24 1/4” scale length, the Recording King Parlor Resonator has a slightly different voice than other metal body instruments. It has all the swampiness and mid-range of a classic, biscuit-style metal body, but the unique design adds a little more treble shimmer, giving it extra top-end clarity.

Recording King guitars never cut corners on the building blocks of great tone, and the limited-run Black Nickel Parlor Resonator delivers classic sound, tons of vibe and roadworthy reliability, whether you’re just discovering resonator, or you’re a professional player.

Case sold separately.

I added a Grover extension nut to raise the action (which is high to begin with) and am using it as a lap resonator. It is easier for me than the full size metal body square necks--I use a chair with a pillow next to me under the headstock to fully support the neck. It holds tuning quite well and the intonation is good. This is loud and gnarly--if you want smooth, this is not the instrument for you.

Does anyone know the string gauge on this? With the high action it seems like the strings are heavy too.

can this be strung and played left handed?

It depends on whether the nut will be correct. You may need to reverse the nut so the strings fit. In that case you should bring it to a guitar tech

Take a look at "Luna Guitars Lightweight Case for Folk and Parlor Size Guitars". A regular size case would also work just a little big
