Overview

The Recording King Madison RK-R35 is built around a 3-ply steam bent maple rim, from the exact same construction and materials used in their best-selling RK-R80. It has a maple neck with an adjustable two-way truss rod and a comfortable padauk fretboard. With a 24-hook brass tension hoop, players can adjust the head tension as precisely as on any world-class banjo. The planetary tuners, geared 5th peg and dual coordinator rods are effective professional components, and add an authentic feel to these impressive banjos.

The Madison RK-R35 has a maple resonator with a hand-rubbed brown matte finish. Recording King builds it with a Mastertone-style bell brass cast tone ring and a Mastertone-style one-piece flange. The Madison peghead and fretboard feature Recording King's Seagull inlay, for a banjo that looks as classic as it sounds.

The American threaded nickel-plated hook and nut hardware, as well as the true presto-style tailpiece and armrest are the same as featured on the popular RK-Scout. Like the other Madison banjos, the RK-R35 comes standard with an authentic Remo head.

Banjo for a lifetime (but description is wrong)

By Matthew Amati

from Madison, WI

Comments about Recording King RK-R35 Madison Tone Ring Banjo:

This is the lowest-price professional-quality banjo you can get. It is as good or better than instruments in the 3-4000 dollar range. If you want to be a performing banjoist, you need an instrument that a)stays tuned/has good intonation b) has good meaty tone, without requiring finicky setup and c) most important, has the VOLUME to be heard over other instruments on state. The RK knocks it out of the park on all of these. It's crazy cheap, and will do you for a lifetime. Take note: The RK-35 does *not* have a "tube-and-plate" flange - whoever wrote the store copy knows nothing about banjos. It has a one-piece flange, like most bluegrass banjos.

Great Banjo!

By Trevor Cavanaugh

Comments about Recording King RK-R35 Madison Tone Ring Banjo:

This Banjo is the best for the money. It has better features than any other at its price point and some you can only find on very expensive banjos (tone ring, maple rim, planitary tuners ext.) Very Happy with mine! Well worth the money!

Comments about Recording King RK-R35 Madison Tone Ring Banjo:

I have owned a couple high end banjos over the past few years and was not expecting this Recording King to even come close. I was wrong! This is no doubt, the best banjo in this price range! I was and am still blown away with the tone this RK35 has.

Mastertone sound, pennies on the dollar.

Comments about Recording King RK-R35 Madison Tone Ring Banjo:

Amazing banjo with a Mastertone-style tone ring. Players far better than I am have been stunned with this instrument, especially when I feel them the price. I had it shipped to my house, and was almost perfectly set up! All I had to do was put on the ebony bridge it came with. Someone was already nice enough to pencil mark it for me on the head to show the best position.

Comments about Recording King RK-R35 Madison Tone Ring Banjo:

I finally received my banjo after a long months wait due to unforseen curcumstances, but let me tell you, the wait was absolutely worth it! This bad boy plays and sounds wonderful, and the construction is phenominal. I definately recomend this product for any and all players.
