RD-328 Tonewood Reserve Series All Solid Dreadnought, Aged Adirondack Top

RD-328 Tonewood Reserve Series All Solid Dreadnought, Aged Adirondack Top

Recording King

Description

Part of the Tonewood Reserve Series, the Recording King RD-328 evokes classic dreadnought style, sound and volume thanks to hand-selected tonewoods and vintage styling.

The foundation of the 328's tone comes from solid Adirondack spruce tops that we've been naturally aging for the past 30 years. Adirondack’s excellent projection, coupled with three decades of curing delivers a stiff, loud, lightweight top with powerful fundamental tone.

Combine the aged tops with solid rosewood back and sides, and you have the all-solid basics for guitars that have powered genres, like bluegrass and country for decades.

Recording King has finished the 328 with classy, low-key fretboard dots on the rosewood fretboard, and a vintage-style tortoise pickguard to protect the top. The 328's classic rosette design and herringbone body purfling complete the traditional look.

For players that need the power and volume that only a dreadnought can provide, but still want the warmth and vibrancy that comes with aged tonewoods, the RD-328 offers the best of both worlds at a fraction of the price of a vintage instrument.

This is the first guitar I've owned with these spec's scale 24.9, Rosewood, Adi-Top, it's a powerhouse when you did in... It can be articulate when played lightly, it has a great note separation..Clear :) It brings out my dynamic playing the harder you dig in the louder it gets. I'm trying out a bunch of guitars and honestly, this one I'm trying to find a way to keep it, the only guitar that is similar spec's but a larger body is the 000-28 and it's 4x the money. With the 24.9 scale the neck feels more under you(Closer) and more compact...I like it but with that you do once in a while hear that smaller guitar thump(boxy) from the body.. Not bad but I thought I would mention it. Also the strings that came on it aren't the best for it, I'll experiment :) Is it worth the price? Try to find something with these spec's at this price... Recording King has hit on their hands if people would look past the name on the headstock. My 5 star is based on the what you get for the price... Something I forgot... It sounds great!

Having read the great reviews, I was a little disappointed at first. The guitar sounded okay, but not especially great. So I told myself to BE PATIENT and work with it. I removed the strings, stained the fingerboard and bridge a little darker, added real ebony bridge pins, added new D'Addario EJ16-12P strings, stretched them out, and let the guitar sit overnight so the strings would "settle in." The next day there was quite an improvement. I have read that these guitars need a little time to "acclimate to a new environment" and that has proven to be true. The sound CONTINUES to improve and I'm quite happy with it, especially for the price. Is it equal to a Martin HD-28? Of course not! However, it IS comparable. I'd say it was at least 90-to-95 percent as good, which is amazing at this price point. Let's face it most guitar players will never own a $3200 guitar. This guitar offers a satisfying alternative for well under a grand.

It is mainly a matter of personal preference but I would recommend trying D'addario medium gauge acoustic strings.
