Radial Engineering

collapse expand iconDescription

The Bones Twin-City footswitch from Radial Engineering is an active ABY switcher and buffer that enables you to connect any two amps and drive them simultaneously without noise, loss of gain, and without degrading your natural guitar tone. This is accomplished with Radial's highly acclaimed buffering technology and the same Drag Control load correction circuitry as used in the award-winning Radial JD7 Injector. The 'set and' forget Drag Control lets you compensate for cable signal loss and introduce the perfect amount of loading to replicate the way your guitar and amp interact.

To eliminate hum and buzz from ground loops, the Twin-City is equipped with an isolation transformer on output B. This is augmented with a ground lift switch and 180 polarity reverse switch that ensures both amplifiers play in phase while noise is reduced to an absolute minimum even when using older vintage amps that are generally more prone to noise. As a buffer, the Twin-City footswitch lowers the impedance and susceptibility to noise, making it the ideal signal driver for large stages when using long cable runs.

Like all Radial products, the Bones are constructed from heavy 14 gauge steel for greater durability and added 'stay put' when kicked around on a busy stage. For even greater durability, the Twin-City footswitch employs Radial's own EIS-Electronic Impulse Switching-for outstanding performance without the challenges of mechanical switches. Bright, easy to see LEDs deliver on-stage switching cues so you know exactly where you are at all times.

As most players employ pedal boards, the Radial Twin-City features standard 'Boss style' 9V powering that will adapt to most multi-pedal power supplies. The ultra compact design with top mounted output and DC connections allow effect pedals to be placed close together for those wishing maximum pedal board density.

  • Seamless signal splitting

I had a Morley prior to the Twin-City. I lost way too much signal with that pedal. This one is seamless. Love the ground lift and the phase switch. I'm glad I decided to to shell out the extra money for a quality ABY.

  • Best AB/Y pedal out there?

This just might be the best AB/Y pedal available. I use it to switch between a fender and a Marshall amp. Decently compact in size, a little more expensive than others but totally worth it, and here's why. Some other AB boxes cut your signal significantly or add white noise/background hum. This one is designed to eliminate that, and has a switch to get rid of ground loops which can add extra noise. It also has a phase reverse switch so you can make sure both amps are playing in phase with each other. Basically, it has everything an AB switch could ever need. I've messed with the drag control a bit but can't seem to hear a difference whether it's turned all the way up or all the way down. If you need an AB box this is if.

I bought another amp switcher a month ago and it was just awful. It popped loudly, buzzed, crackled, and hummed, I hate to trash a company with what could be just a lemon unit but facts are facts and the 325 dollar lehle had problems. I tried the Twin City and no problems, No popping even at high volumes and high gain, no buzzing, no crackling. It's smaller does not change the sound, it has a drag level if you have too many pedals and cables. The 180 works so does the ground lift or whatever It's called. The color is fantastic, reminds of the Pan Am airline colors, led's are bright, and It's very solid and no weird manufacture defects like scratches, paint chipping and the like. I have only top of the line equipment and this switcher is worth every penny you spend and It's about half the price of the lehle.

This is a really nice ABY pedal. I use it to send a stereo signal to my DAW interface for Pro Tools. In the past, I'd simply create two mono tracks and send the same signal out of one input to both. But then for true stereo, I'd have to nudge one track, bounce them to a stereo file, then instantiate any effects thereafter. Time consuming. This completely eliminates all of that. The signal sent is pure, no tone loss, and it's quiet. Very pleased.

  • Exactly what I wanted it to be.

Exactly what I wanted and expected. No noticeable tone loss, no popping during channel switch. Well done. No issues at all.
