First of all, let me say that this keyboard stand is rock solid and very well made. QuikLok is a name I've purchased before and have relied on for many years. Be that as it may, here's why I only give this product 2 stars. I purchased this Z-726L model earlier this month, but didn't assemble it until closer to the end of the month because I am redesigning my studio with new gear. So everything was gutted out and there was no point in assembling the stand (so I thought). I also purchased the Z-728 mic boom attachment along with a universal clamp-on music stand to complete the set. Today, I attempted to put the stand together and was completely stunned at how poorly the assembly instructions were. By following the diagram, the instructions LITERALLY have you to assemble the stand BACKWARDS!! By following the instructions, your shins would be scraped raw by the steel support bar at the bottom of the stand. To confirm, I went back to QuikLok's website to see a picture of the Z-726L and sure enough, it is supposed to be the other way around. Adding to these awful instructions, there were two washers in the hardware pack that were not mentioned AT ALL as to which bolt those washers were supposed to be used with. I suppose QuikLok decided to leave that up to the user to decide for themselves where to use them (if at all). Next, the Z-728 mic boom attachment states both at Guitar Center as well as QuikLok's websites that it is for use with all Z stands except the Z-722. Well, I bought the Z-726L and it is NOT COMPATIBLE! The attachment photo on Guitar Center's and QuikLok's websites both show the attachment with an open end on the LEFT SIDE which allows the bolts to pass through and connect the side frame to the upper tier support beam. Well, either there was some mix up at QuikLok and they mislabeled the part and sent me the wrong product, or worse, they redesigned the product and didn't update the product compatibility list! But the product I ended up with had a solid steel plate on the left side that blocked the bolt holes preventing me from securing the upper tier to the frame! So, I had to return the boom arm attachment along with the music stand because without the boom arm, I can't use the music stand either! As for the Z-726L, I wouldn't have had a problem reorienting the stand to the correct configuration - simply remove a few bolts, flip the bottom support beam, reattach and move the upper tier to the opposite end. But by following those backward instructions, I already attached the foam padding to the lower level of the stand - and that adhesive is STRONG. So I had to peel it off without ripping the foam, use a gum remover to get the adhesive off the wrong end of the stand and reattach it with two sided tape - which I now had to go out and buy! Get it together, QuikLok! For this, you should be ashamed.

    Top Shelf

    By John Havlicek

Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Z Keyboard Stand:

Not much to say about keyboard stands, so I'll keep it as short as I can: 1)I needed a wide and deep stand for an organ (Key B Duo), this thing is about perfect dimension-wise 2)The stand needed to be strong, this thing feels like a rock 3)The stand needed to be stable (I hate stands that wobble around), this stand has a wide footprint an d barely moves. 4)I really dislike the way a lot of stands look, especially those "X" stands. They look like you put your keyboard on a bus table from a cheap restaurant. This thing has a substantial, industrial and even aggressive look...I can live with this! Since the width is very close to the width of the organ and both are black, the look is very much "factory". I give this thing 5 stars, but I should mention one thing. It doesn't just fold up and/or collapse for transport. If you want to take it apart though, it's just about undoing four nice fat (easy to grab) handscrews...a total of MAYBE two minutes. VERY nice stand!

Rock solid and highly recommended (cautions listed)...

Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Z Keyboard Stand:

I will start this review with a false statement: Quik-Lok is the first company to ever produce an assembly manual that is wrong and/or unhelpful.

Yeah. The assembly sheet I got was wrong, too. And there are several small parts that are not even mentioned. However, my keen sense of engineering quickly kicked in and I figured they would be handy for another piece of hardware I had by a different manufacturer.

Kidding aside, I did figure out where they should most likely go. It wasn't very difficult. HOWEVER, it did end up undoing some of the fastening bolts a few times before I got it right. That was annoying.

All this said, the piece is solid and I would buy another. Highly recommended even considering the horrible assembly instructions.

A note to those that don't read dimensions: this stand is for full sized keyboards. This wouldn't work for me except that I made a bracket that hangs inside this stand so that I can use shorter keyboards. Works fine for me. Also, the vertical clearance between tiers is tight for my taste. I am not using this in a live setting. Home studio instead. So, I can live with it. But I wish the second tier had at least two more inches.

So, again, it's rock solid. I love it. I would recommend it only with the above caveats.

Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Z Keyboard Stand:

Stand has been improved since 2013 and I've ordered several of them and I use them on the road and also in the studio the only problem is some of the threads need to be tapped out because of the powder coating gets caught in the threads other than that I've modified the stands the suit my needs by adding extra length to the top tier and then adding my own music stand and accessories

Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Z Keyboard Stand:

Good Value at the 25% discount and very stable vs x style stands; however I went thru 5 orders of new unopened and I returned every one and reordered because the plastic rectangular tube inserts arrived broken on every order even though they are double boxed from the Quik-Lok Chinese manufacture they came from. Also some had the spring missing and other broken plastic parts in the box. Guitar Center was good about reordering however it was a hassle returning all 6 and reordering and still the new shipments that I received had the same parts broken so I contacted Quik-Lok in Conneticut and they sent new stands because they don't have individual parts for these. I bought these in 2013 and no issues, so that's the scoop.. good luck

I bought several these over the years and I just bought one recently they're great for home studio or professional studio where you don't have to move it for a gig the only situation I found with this is the bolt hole needs to be rethreaded due to the over powder coating of the bolt-hole

Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Z Keyboard Stand:

Everything arrived intact and rack is very sturdy. I found the instructions to be typical with most everything else I have assembled. This rack is a big improvement from the current x style frame we have now. I would highly recommend this rack especially if your keyboard is more to the heavy side.

Comments about Quik-Lok Two Tier Z Keyboard Stand:

One of the best stands that I have used. This is the stand you want if you choose to use bass pedals.... In my opinion, this stand is not for the gigging musician as the setup is a little too cumbersome, but for studio or install.... Very sturdy and configurable.
