The SPYR Series of marimba mallets are available in varying hardnesses, from very soft to very hard. With birch handles, yarn tips and a natural finish, this series works well for a variety of venues. In collaboration with Kevin Shah and Tony Nunez, the SPYR Series covers the full spectrum of keyboard sounds.

SM1 Very Soft Marimba Mallet
The SM1 features a large, very soft synthetic rubber core wrapped in yarn for a full, lush sound on the bottom register of the marimba. These mallets also feature a slightly thicker shaft than traditional marimba mallets for improved balance and feel.

SM2 Soft Marimba Mallet
By molding a soft, synthetic rubber in a slightly larger size than traditional marimba mallets, the SM2 achieves a full, strong fundamental tone from the instrument without excessive weight. This makes it an ideal “soft” marimba mallet for ensemble playing. This mallet also features a slightly thicker handle for improved balance and durability.

SM3 Medium Marimba Mallet
The SM3 is Promark's general-use, medium marimba mallet. A slightly larger core than traditional marimba mallets produces a fuller fundamental tone from the instrument without excessive weight, making it ideal for ensemble use. This mallet also features a slightly thicker handle for improved balance and durability.

SM4 Medium Hard Marimba Mallet
The SM4 is a great go-to general use mallet for indoor and outdoor marching percussion. The combination of a slightly larger mallet head with an internal brass weight provide a full, fundamental tone that cuts through the ensemble. These mallets are also constructed with a slightly thicker shaft than traditional marimba mallets for improved balance and durability.

SM5 Hard Marimba Mallet
This mallet is an ideal general use mallet for concert applications where you are playing on the upper half of the marimba register and need an articulate sound to cut through the ensemble. The SM5 uses a standard 5/16” birch shaft for a light and nimble feel.

SM6 Very Hard Marimba Mallet
The SM6 is Promark's most articulate marimba mallet in their offering. The SM6 really shines when played on the top octave and a half of the marimba, producing a clear note that cuts.
