Great mic stand, but a little light...

I bought one of these for live use and to use in a studio setting. It does the live thing perfectly - just slap a sm58 on and you're good to go. Great quality, especially for the small price tag. For anything heavier than a 58, however, you had better look into something more heavy-duty. It takes quite a bit of maneuvering to get some of my lighter condenser mics to not tip this thing over. For live use, though, this stand can't be beat!

boom stand

good stand, but came with common problem...the thread assembly where the clip screws on was loose, probably from factory. Easily fixed by drilling small hole and adding small sheet metal screw...not worth the time and effort to send back...otherwise good product, but they should fix that problem.

I sing and play guitar for a living. I transport gear to each gig and every little extra pound matters. This version of the MS220 has an improved tripod base which is more solid than the last version. However it comes at a cost of an extra pound. To many it's a great trade off. For me, I preferred the previous one as it was very durable but lighter.

The threads for the bolt that holds the boom rod in place stripped out only a few months after putchasing. Ended buying another thinking I was just unlucky, but ended up happening again. Don't cheap out on a mic stand if you want it to last.

These are just good stands. The boom arm holds my Shure SM 58 without slipping down.

I have a chrome version I bought used that works absolutely perfect. I love it. I bought a brand new black version from GC, and it's trash. I don't know how there could be such difference within the same model, especially when it's only a few dollars difference. Get the chrome version if you're getting one.

This is a great mic stand. It's priced right and will hold most mics. When I was checking out at GC I was asked if I needed the clip for the mic. I told the salesman no that my Heil Mic came with one. For sure when I got home to set it up it fit perfectly. I recommend Proline products for all musicians.
